Hello. I have family in Ventiimiglia and family in Oppido Mamertina. I want to fly into Nice, France late June, to see my family in Ventimiglia. Then I want to go to from there to Reggio first week of July for la festa in Oppido Mamertina.
I'm trying to figure out the cheapest way to get from Ventimiglia to Reggio. Flights are really expensive. I was thinking train but will probably lose an entire day and not sure if that will cost any less.
Any advice? Thanks in advance!
best way to get from lamezia terme airport and reggio airport to gioia tauro. which is more convenient? is there train service? thanks
Is it possible to catch a ferry/hydrofoil, or train from Tropea, (or some where close by) to Sorrento (or some where close by?) We would like to leave Tropea and travel to the Amalfi coast area. So far our best option appears to be to fly from Lamezia,Terme to Naples, and then travel on the hydrofoils from there.
Im trying to get from Reggio Calabria airport to the port to catch the hydrofoil to Panarea
Hi all, I need to get from Rome to Caulonia in Calabria by train or bus. Any suggestions on how to do it the cheepest way? I know that it is a long journey but I can not hire a car. Thank you for help, Agata
Hi, My Partner and I are going to travel to South Italy in mid- September. We plan to fly into Naples (as there are no other flights south of here from Ireland) and then get the train south from here. We are looking for a nice hotel with pool and near a nice sandy beach with a town with good authentic restaurants. If anyone could offer some guidance on this that would be great. anywhere within 3 hrs south of Naples would be ideal. thanks, Gerry
We will be traveling to Italy for a little over two months from May to July. We arrive in Rome and have about a week to travel the southern area before taking the ferry to Sicily. We have been to the Amalfi coast and Sorrento area a few times but never to Calabria. We are looking for any suggestions on where to stay and visit? Is it to much to drive from Rome to Calabria in one day, should we stop for a day or two in Sorrento (one of our favorite places)? How about in Sicily…we are planning to stay there about three weeks. We will have a car for our entire stay and want to take the ferry to and from Sicily. When we leave Sicily we are going to take the ferry to Genoa as we rented a flat in Portofino for 2 weeks and then a flat in Senia for three weeks where we are invited to see the Palio before returning home.
Buenosera! Getting the train from Villa San Giovanni tomorrow and forgot the guidebook with info about Reggio Di Calabria. Please can anyone help with 1. the archaeological museum - is it open on Saturdays and how do we get there from Reggio di Calabria train station 2. places to eat either in Reggio di Calabria or ideally Villa San Giovanni as we are catching a train from there late in the evening. (Anywhere with any vegetarian dishes or pizzas would be great) Grazie! Lucy
Im going away with a friend to Calabria next May and wondered if there is any night life in the area. My friend isnt keen on 'partying' but I most definitely am, so I woukld like to find a 'happy medium' for us both to enjoy our stay in the region. Also, we are planning a trip for the beginning of May and Im concerned the weather may not be warm. Any input will be gratefully received. Thanks, Yvonne x

Is there a shuttle between Lamezia Terme airport and the Lamezia Terme train station? If so, any information on how often it runs, etc?
I was wondering if any members were familiar with Botricello. It is on the east coast of Calabria not too far from Catanzaro. Will be moving there to live in the next year or so. It has a train station, has anyone tried the train from Lamezia to Botricello or any advice on getting there would be appreciated. We are from Scotland. Thanks in anticipation. W
I was in Cosenza in summer 2008, visiting some family friends. Now, I don't speak Italian and they don't speak English, but we were getting by. They were telling me and my husband about some mountain, where, on a clear day from the top you could apparently see both coasts of Italy. If this is real, what is the name of the mountain? Or did we just misunderstand them? We're going back in September, which is why I ask. Thanks!
Thank you, Beausoleil for your info! I greatly appreciate it.
Hello, I want to visit my grandmother's hometown of Montauro. Any info on sights to see there or surrounding areas would be most appreciated. Mille grazie!
We will be spending five days in reggio calabria and we will be staying in an agriturismo up in the mountains. Can anyone guide me on the best places we should visit and what are the options for the night of New Year's Eve. Is there any kind of nightlife??? is there a good place for skiing and snow boarding????

Bonjourno everyone! I live in England near London and would like to travel to Reggio di Calabria some time next year. Could anyone please tell me which are the best airports to use to get there. Grazie!
Hi all, We have the possibility to go for a day trip to Reggio. I don't really know much about the place so I was wondering what would be the top things to do within a day. Travel time would be in winter...betweeen November and February (excluding Christmas period). Also if there is a particular time when it might be better to go. Thanks!
Grazie mille :))
Hi Does anyone know of any airlines offering direct flights to London from Calabria? Seems ryanair isnt offering it any more. Thanks
Does anyone know anything about the town of Cutro? Since Cutro is my family name,I would be interested in visiting both the town of Anzi in Basilicata where my family actually came from as well as Cutro in Calabria since the town's name is the same as my family name. What is the best way to get there ? Are there any nice beach front B&B,s or hotels near there? Thank you
Hi, Four siblings and I are taking our mom to Italy for a trip of a lifetime and to visit the town that her father was born in, Figline Vegliaturo. Do any of you have a recommended way to travel there? I don't think there is any public transportation to the town. Is taxi or Avis rent a car (would they even have a car for six people) a better bet? Also, we are coming in via train from Rome. What would be the best way to get closest to the old city area where we are staying using public transportation? The place where staying says Piazza Matteotti is the closest bus stop. Would anyone know which bus # to take for that stop? Thank you ahead a time for taking your time to help me out. Cia
Hello - I will be in Tropea on the 21st and 22nd of July....yes, I know, it is late ; Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced hotel or bed and breakfast. So far, I have Villa Giada and La Porta del Mare as possibilities.... Thanks much!
I was there a while ago in July and besides the beach and visiting local towns, what activities, nature, famous things can we see in the area? For example Rome and Florence is full of attractions, I am not expecting that much but I need to justify my drive from Rome to Calabria with something worth to see and do. As for beaches, when I was there one July we couldn't even go to the beach even though the hotel took us because the tide was too strong.. what to do then? Thanks.
Does anyone know any details about the train that supposedly runs from Cosenza town to the Sila mountains? I would appreciate any details. The only information I can find out is a picturesque steam train IN the sila mountains, but I want to travel to there from Cosenza by train. Hope someon can help me. Thanks!
Hello We are thinking of taking our holiday in Calabria next year and would appreciate it if anyone is able to recommend any nice apartments by the sea(with pool) in the region. I would be really grateful for help with this as we have never been to the area before. Look forward to your replies. Lizzie
