To all seasoned Egyptologists here.
I am planning to visit Cairo in January 2014 for a week or so and I intend to cover Cairo, Nile Cruise (Aswan/Hurghada), Luxor, Alexandria and Sharm El Sheikh.
I know one can not foretell the future, but considering the current situation, does it look like to be a good time for the foreign tourists to visit this summer?
Also, can anyone help me out to give a readymade itinerary for 7 days and a rough indication of cost?
I will be travelling to Cairo next week and was wondering if anyone can recommend a company or tour guide that does private tours of the pyramids and is knowledgeable about the city. I would feel safer before I left knowing a guide would be able to show me around the city. Thank you VT friends!
What is the preferred attire for woman tourists? I don't want to offend the customs of the country. I am a female american and wanted to know if I should cover my head to be respectful to the culture. Thanks!
My husband, son (11yrs) and I are doing an around the world flight in March/April 2014. We are considering going to Cairo, but being an American and having a child with me I have some concerns. My husband, who is Irish and I travelled the world by bicycle and stayed in Egypt for 3 months 15 years ago. We used to be hardened travelers, but a bit soft around the edges now. Really I am just concerned for my son. I would love to take him to the Pyramyds and a bizzar, nothing crazy. I feel the American government always has warnings for us, but I don't want to take any unnecessary risks with my son and in this case I would like a second opion. Any info is appreciated!! Thanks.
I am due to visit sharm 5th of jan and it is my first time in Eypgt. I know the trial was on the 4th of Nov with no outcome to an end of the unrest e.g protests and riots. Due to trial adjourned until the 8th of Jan by this time I will be 3 days into my holiday. I would love to visit Cairo, Luxor and Giza to see the pyramids, I am taking my mum with me (67). Any adivce would be really helpful. As although the news covers alot of the riots/protests I do believe that they like to fear people and always show the worst. I have read on other travel sites that its pretty quiet in Cairo ie protest and riots. People are going about their normal day to day activites. Is this the case? does anyone on here know of any good tour guides?
I will go to travel the next year. I want to know any things...
If I want to go to Cairo for 5 days, how much money I must having is...?
Where can I stay?
I intend staying 5 days in Cairo during Mid Jaunuary 2014. Will it be safe to travel then?
Hi - I'm looking to travel to Cairo in December and I was wondering if there are any safe areas that I can look for accommodation.
Also, given the unrest, should we travel by guided tours or can we go sightseeing by ourselves. If guided tours are the better option can anyone recommend some options?
Do you know of any tour operators for cheap and reliable trip to Cairo from Alexandria...or if we decide to do tours once we are there what is the cheapest way to get there...by car or by train?
who want visit egypt this year if situation is good ??
We are hoping to go to Cairo in October.
Obviously my first thought is for the poor people living there, but my next concern is - will I be able to visit.
Does anybody know if things are improving.
I have read that there may be trouble in Egypt, but I think that it should be gone by now.
I am looking for advice whether to travel to Cairo and Luxor in late October, 2013. My wife and I are from Australia and have booked a couple of days in Cairo, then the overnight train to Luxor. We stay there one night and catch the overnight train back to Cairo. We fly out the following day. I realise the "State of Emergency" has just been extended for two months although the civil unrest seems to have quietened. My question relates to:
- Are there many tourists currently in Cairo and Luxor?
- Are the overnight trains running?
- Is the Cairo museum open yet?
Any other advice would be appreciated.
I've read all the notices about not travelling to Cairo but just would like to know from people living there and experiencing it on a day to day basis do you think it's OK to go - staying with friends - for a few days next week/the week after. It's hard looking in from the outside. Would be travelling from Ireland. Thanks
I'm going to Egypt on Monday and don't want to leave unless I've seen the pyramids because that's the main reason! Please let me know

I am starting to work in an interrnational school just outside of Cairo, I am flying out on the 18th of august.
For those that are out there, how safe will I be? Do you think I should quit my job now because of the safety issues out there or would a western male based in the outskirts of the city be OK?
I am travelling to Paris with 20hrs overhaul in Cairo. There are 5 of us students (25-30 years old) travelling together.
The trip is in January first week. We were planning to go and visitthe pyramids during the long haul. What are your suggestions? Also any idea if it will be safe by then to venture out of the airport for sightseeing or sitting inside the airport will be the wisest thing to do.
Thanks in advance.
ARRIVING IN TERMINAL 3 09:30AM AND DEPARTING TO ROME TERMINAL 3 AT 13:30 IS THIS PLENTY OF TIME?
Is the airport safe now? I have six hours in the airport.
I'm traveling with an 11 hour layover in Egypt. I booked the tickets quite some time ago, thinking it would be nice to spend the layover seeing the pyramids and maybe some of the museum. That was before the latest unrest.
I have no worries about staying in the airport for the layover, my only concern being boredom. However, I would like to see the pyramids instead of staying holed up for 11 hours!
If I were to take a cab from the terminal direct to the pyramids, do you think it would be safe? I really don't want to go to Cairo/central Cairo as I'm not familiar with the geography and I don't want to get caught up in a protest.
P.S. I'm an American woman traveling with a male partner.
I have friends in Cairo and two are getting married I would like to know if there are any Cairo shops online that deliver with a good selection off gifts can anyone help as been looking for 2 hrs. and come up with nothing so far. need English as well as Arabic on site as cant read Arabic

I have a 13 hour layover at the Cairo Airport, and I would like to see the pyramids. I was wondering if it was safe to do it with all the on going riots. Also, can I find any travel agencies at the airport, that arrange such visits?
Is it safe to layover at the Cairo airport? I am a woman traveling alone and would be in the airport for a 15 hour layover. The violence is escalating in the city and I am worried about safety at the airport.
After the recent demonstrations on July 3 and 4th - is it safe to be in the cairo airport for a 11 hour transit. I am not planning to leave the airport grounds. Please advice.
