Hi, I'll be in Cairo in November and looking for a good hotel near nightlife. I'm looking at Ramses Hilton, Intercontinental Semiramis or Marriott. Have heard of many stories of single female traveller in Cairo, so would prefer a good hotel.$$ wise, Ramses Hilton is the cheapest but read that it is in the junction of the highways. So guess it's not convenient to walk around? Any recommendation for good club (by that, I mean not sleazy) with live band will be great as well. :) Thanks!
Hey there, I can't help you with hotels, even though I would try to avoid hotels downtown - not because it's not safe, but just to be sure in case more demonstrations are going on. If you want to go out, you should check out this website -> http://www.cairo360.com/ they are a "Cairo guide" with everything starting from restaurant reviews to places to go at night. Hope I could help you with that =)

I stayed 3 month ago in Cairo Sheapherd Hotel in City Garden area in down town. It is very safe because of the proximity of USA embasy. The hotel was very good for me with a very nice view of the Nile. About night life in Cairo for a woman traveling alone I think it is not a good idea. Good luck!!

Single female travellers are safer in Cairo than in New York City. Mariott Hotel is extremely nice because of its garden and of its location in Zamalek, where expats live and go out at night. Ramses Hilton is right on the highway indeed. Clubs : After Eight in downtown, Cairo Jazz Club in Mohandissine
