Cairns Tours Discount

by pusha17 Online Now Feb 4, 2013 at 9:31 PM

Hi,
We want to take a trip to the Great Barrier Reef. Can you recommend a company which would compare the existing tours and make the best offer? Perhaps last minute offers. And maybe suggest other interesting trips in the area...to have a discount for a combo of trips
Thanks

This may not quite answer your question but do follow the link about visiting the reef from Cairns by our top Cairns writer.

WE went up to Kuranda from Cairns on the old train and came back Skyrail.

You must visit Palm Cove and Port Douglas ...buses...You can visit the Reef from Port Douglas.

We also went to Cape Tribulation and Daintree with Billy Tea Safaris

and they do other tours as well.

    Hi, welcome to VT.

The two main companies are Quicksilver and Sunlover with both offering full day trips to the outer reef. I've never heard of any special deals or last minute offers from GBR operators. You can check out the two companies here:

    http://www.quicksilver-cruises.com
    http://www.sunlover.com.au

For longer cruises there's Captain Cook:

Not sure that I understand 'discount for a combo of trips'. Are you trying to package a number of tours together to get a discount? I don't think anyone does that, the tours are by different operators and they all simply publish a price for the tour.

What you can fit in depends on how many days you have, but there's Cape Trib, Daintree rainforest, Atherton Tablelands, northern beach villages (esp. Palm Cove and Trinity Beach), river trips, aboriginal cultural park, Kuranda, the Kuranda railway, skyrail, Port Douglas, Cairns itself, Green Island and plenty more...all are worth a visit.

    Some tours are listed here:

We went to Cairns Discount Tours. They have this massive choice of reef trips and other stuff. I like them because they have all the less expensive trips as well that us students can afford and they will give you great discount price. This is the website: http://cairnsdiscounttours.com.au/
Please have a look if you would like.

As Colin said, last minute reef trips are pretty much non existent, as that is when most people book anyway. I work in a restaurant here and generally speaking every tour desk and website are sent out the same deal but some have exclusive deals. For comparing tours, if you are not really a research person just go in to a tour desk in town and they will get you sorted. But if you are more someone that likes working out their own plan (I'm guessing so as you are on here!), there are loads of options online so hunt around and find one that best suits what you're seeking, check product reviews and happy hunting! I would post links but a quick Google search will do the same

Thanks for all the replies. I followed Takanori's advice and used the Cairns Discount Tours. The staff was really nice and they gave us a good deal for an outer reef trip (cheaper than the official Quicksilver price)
