Look at the National Express site:

    nationalexpress.com/coach/in...

The answer is 'yes'...but it's a long journey.

I should say that if you intend your friend to take the coach then you should definitely book online in advance. Coaches can and do get full-up, whereas UK trains cannot get full-up. If there are not seats one simply stands until a seat becomes free.

Also, coach fares can be cheaper if you book them well in advance.

    NO
but study the National Express coach web site to get actual details of transfers. Think you have to transfer at Birmingham for Stansted and the journey takes a long time. Including a 90 minutes wait at Birmingham.

Welcome to VT, alfred. I am sure you will enjoy our courteous forums.

It is a matter of semantics, I think.

The poster wanted to know if it was feasible to make the journey in one 'go' from a to b, and it is. Two separate tickets are not required and one does not need to first travel to e.g. Bangor to catch the coach. The change of vehicle en route does not make the journey 'indirect' as such, imo, simply rather lengthy.
