Hi @ all, We'll stay 4-5 days in Barcelona at the end of February. Would you recommend Carrer Sicilia? Is this a good place to discover the city? Sagrada Familia doesn't seem to be too far, but I'm not yet informed about the City, to be true. Any suggestions? As always, your helpful answers will be well appreciated. Thanks in advance and a happy new year to you all. Nic

    • Beach towns near Barcelona

      Barcelona Jan 4, 2015 at 3:20 PM

Hi all. This my first posting on VT. We are two retired couples traveling to Spain and Portugal next September for almosta month. We are flying into Barcelona on Sept 6 and thought it would be nice to head to one of the nice beach towns north or west of Barcelona for the first few days as we settle into the time zone! A nice sea view would be lovely, and somewhere where we can easily walk out to local restqurants . I've done some research and can't decide between somewhere like Tossa de mar in the Costa Braga or maybe around d Cambrils in Costa Dorada. Thoughts would be so appreciated. We were not planning to rent a car until later in our trip, so we will be making our way from Barcelona Into. Airport. Then we would move on to Barcelona., Madrid, etc. Before heading to Portugal.

      Barcelona Jan 23, 2015 at 11:28 AM

      Hello,

My husband and I (both in our early 30s) are going to be in Barcelona mid May for 4-5 nights. What's the best are to stay in? I was looking at maybe the Gothic Quarter?
Are there places we should take day trips to nearby that we can take the train to?
Is 4 nights enough or do we need 5? We will be taking the train to France for the rest of the trip.

      Thanks!

I am at the renfe site (I think) and can't seem to get a schedule for that day. It seems to be asking me to change dates. Does that make sense that there would be no train on a Saturday between Barcelona and Madrid? Anyone able to help? Thanks so much!

by mickeymouse1 Online Now May 4, 2014 at 1:32 PM

does anyone else think as I do, that transport from Gerona airport to Cadaques is expensive?. down south of the country, 55k from airport to destination, and return, was £47. the above is 82, and the cost varies between 2/300euros. which I think is expensive. if it was 100 or just over, that would be acceptable.

      Cadaques vs Rose Beach

I am trying to chose a suitable accomodation to stay in the area, and would like to get your advice which one is better - Cadaques or the Rose Beach? I know that those places are not far from each other but I will not have a car and was wondering how easy it would be to reach from the Rose beach to the city to see things in Cadaques?
I will be heading there from Figueres, and would like to know if there is a bus which goes to the Rose beach or I would have to take another bus/boat from Cadaques? also I will traveling in the end of april so from what I could get it would be not that crowded or I am wrong? thank you fro your help, Olya

      Cadaques and Figueres

by nomad7890 Online Now Jun 29, 2009 at 7:20 PM

I have close to three days left and was looking about spending two nights in Cadaques and visiting Figueres. I have already found the web site for the buses and for the Dali museum ... and seen the tip on a nearby castle/fort ;=)

How is Cadaques in early August? Is it just way too crowded, or can it still be enjoyable?

Am I correct in assuming I should have enough time to visit the Dali Museum for about 1/2 day or so, and spending the rest of the time wondering around Cadaques and maybe enjoying the beach?

I was also looking at Hotel Playa Sol - any experiences?

      Any comments/recommendations welcome!

Snorkeling in the Cap de Creus

by mstinawu Online Now Jun 16, 2007 at 4:26 PM

Some friends and I will be driving to Cadaques to stay for two nights from Barcelona and we'd like to spend a morning or afternoon snorkeling in the Cap de Creus Reserve. I've read good things online, but are these dive/snorkel sites something we can get to without getting a boat with a motor? I've seen some places that will take you for diving (but we don't have diving licenses and would rather do something more low key like snorkeling), but not sure how it all works. Could we just rent a kayak and kayak to some random place for snorkeling? We'll be there in later September.
