The prices in Cabarete are more expensive there then in Puerto Plata , but this is a expensive area , the property is much more dearer the Sosua & Puerto Plata , but if you look around you can still find Restaurants & Shops at better then avarage prices . Regards Richard

Grocery prices are very high! Booze, not so much but it depends on what you drink. If you stick with rum from Dominican it is good. Be very careful down there, my husband was shot at Serenity del sol condo unit during a robbery at the condo beside us. This happened in February 2012. I almost lost my husband. The condo unit was advertised as 24 hour security and 15 minutes from Cabarete. It was a hour walk and the security ran away the night my husband was shot. It was 2 armed Haitian men who broke into the neighbours condo unit. We filed a report with the Canadian Consulate. Be very careful
