isn't it also well dressing festivals? I used to work for a company based in darbyshire/tideswell - and recall this fun summer thing whereby each water well was 'dressed' in assorted flowed - giving a great excuse to wander across the countryside. there are also some bluestone? mines scattered about - and the ladybower (again, i may have the spelling wrong) dam - not to mention some great gritstone climbing in the nearby hills. -bill

the opera house is quite famous.......there is also a bu9ilding in the center that has an unsual curved shape.......cant remember exact details but there is some history behind it.....buxtons worth a visit because there are so many nice places just a stones throw away : )
