Hi! I am travelling to Busan from October 20-22 and will have a downtime to explore the place. I'm hoping to get your expert advice on the following: 1. What's the accepted tipping customs in Busan/South KOrea? I understand that some Asian countries frown on tipping. 2. Can anyone recommend a local travel guide in Busan (afternoon of Oct. 21 and whole day on the 21st)? What would be an acceptable "pay" for a local guide for a day's service? Thanks and safe travels to all! Read more: World Travel Forum
We are a group of 4 persons and will go to Busan at end of September. One of my friends is a chef and will visit the famous seafood market in Busan and buy some fresh seafood and cook for us. However, our big problem is it is very difficult to find such apartment or villa with well equipped kitchen. Can any VT members recommend any website or the way to find such apartment or villa? Thank you very much in advance.
Im going to visit Busan primarily to attend this event, has anyone here been to it? Any tips on how I can get a ticket to the Opening Ceremony of BIFF for the 4th of Oct 2012? Also, while looking around (browsing) I found that there's more to this city than the BIFF. I'm into scenery, photography and I like high places with a view. Any tips regarding these are appreciated. Lastly, I'm there for the 1st week of October and 2nd week in Seoul, should I pack for Winter Spring or Fall?

Hi everyone, We will visit Busan for a day as part of a cruise. Can you tell us, if there are interesting things to see in the vicinity of the whalf where we will dock, or if we should hire a taxi, etc. or take a tour organised by the ship? What are two major sights in Busan we shouldn't miss? Any information would be helpful to us. Thanks.
Hi! Is Busan International Airport, a 24-hour airport? Are there any closing hours? How far is it from Busan International Airport to city center (intercity bus terminal) and Busan Port (Ferry Terminal)? Thanks!
Hi, I've been looking at places to visit in South Korea and from what I've read, Seoul and Gyeongju are on my list of places to visit. I've looked at Busan but it seems that its not really a place to visit for sightseeing. I get the impression its for people who want to go the beach, try the hot springs, go shopping and for conferences rather than seeing historical buildings and temples. I'm therefore thinking of leaving it out. Will I be making a mistake by skipping it? Is it still worth visiting and experiencing this city for what it is? Or use it as a base for day trips outside of Busan? Thanks.
Hi! I'll be going to Busan the day after Christmas, and was wondering if it'll be difficult to get a room at a love motel without a reservation? (between Dec 26 and 30-weekdays) Is that a busy period? (I've heard weekends can get busy, but wanted to know about weekdays between Christmas & New Years?) Thanks in advance for those in the know who respond. : )
Hi! I'm planning to go to Korea last week of March to first week of April. I will be arriving in Busan as the plane fare is cheaper compared to going straight to Seoul. Are there Cherry blossoms by March 30-Apr 3? May I know the sites where I can view the Cherry Blossoms in Busan and in Seoul? I'm taking the bus from Busan to Seoul. How long will it take me? Where can I get the bus trip schedules? Which places in Seoul can I view the Cherry blossoms? Thanks!
I will be in Busan last week of November for Winter experience. And I did several research about the city for a month now. But still there are remaining questions left unanswered. Help please!! 1.) I know there are taxis at 15,000 to City centre, questions is, Do we need to book inside the airport concierge or just go directly outside the terminal? Afraid that may be language barrier. 2.) I plan to go to Oedo Island. I already have the idea on how to get there and what to do. My question is, what what is the best option if i am staying near Busan Tower? (Elysee Hotel) Here are the options: Oedo Island and Oedo-Botania can be reached via ferry from six locations on Geojedo Island. Fares run approx. 17,000 won for the approx. 40-minute trip to Oedo and nearby Haegeumgang. The entrance fee to Oedo-Botania is 8,000 won for adults. Ticketing hours are between 07:30~17:30 (winter hours are 08:00~1530). . Ferries to the Geojedo ports of Okpo (3 daily) and Jangseungpo (5 daily) depart from Busan’s Passenger Terminal daily. Times vary depending on season and weather conditions. The ferry to Jangseungpo takes approx. 50 minutes and cost 21,000 won. An 8-minute, 900-won bus departs from Busan Station (train) for the Passenger Terminal (ferries). 3.) We will take the open bus Day and Night tour withing Busan for 2 consecutive night. Do you think it will be worth it to take this Bus tour instead of going on our own? Thanks so much! I am just so excited for this trip.

Can I have some of your opinion regarding our stay in Busan, because i'm having a hard time choosing which location to stay either Haeundae Area or City Center near Busan Tower or Seomyeon? One more thing is that, if we choose Haeundae area and we're arriving late at the airport around 11pm, is there still Limousine Bus to Haeundae Area that late? does anyone know the schedule of limousine bus? Thank you in advance

Hi! I would like to stay for a night at Jeju Island this comming October. I want to take the Ferry rather than the Plane. How long will it take us to reach Jeju Island and which Ferry to take? any idea how much is the round trip ticket? By the way, we have 5days 6nights to spend in Busan because we want to experience Autumn there. Thank you in advance and have a nice day to all! :)
My friend and I will be in Busan for roughly a day (weekday) in mid Aug. We'll be arriving in the late afternoon on Thu, and leaving on the ferry at 7 pm on Fri. We will be relying on public transport to get around. We have some questions regarding sightseeing and the overnight ferry to Jeju. Many thanks in advance for any answers! :) 1) What can we reasonably fit into our itinerary in this short time? We're looking for stuff that's unique to Busan, amazing views or awesome experiences. I don't mind museums if they're good. :) Not terribly keen on beaches per se. Tentatively, I have Jagalchi market, Taejongdae, Gwangan beach (night views) and Yongdusan park on my list. Please feel free to give your opinions and suggestions! 2) For those who have been to both (or either), what are your opinions on Beomeosa and Haedong Yonggungsa? On the rest of our trip, we'll already be going to Bulguksa and Seokguram at Gyeongju. I know Beomeosa is Busan's most renowned temple, but on a travel blog I read that the other one has amazing sea views. 3) What are you conditions like for the cheapest class on the Busan-Jeju overnight ferries? Will we need to bring our own sleeping bags, or will there be bedding provided? 4) Do we need to arrive a certain amount of time before the departure time of the ferry in order to buy tickets and stake out good spots?

Hi! We arrive at Busan, South Korea at 8:00PM, are trains still open at this time going to Seoul / Incheon? If yes, what train is the least expensive? :) Or, even if it's a little expensive, what's the fastest train that can get us to Seoul? Thank you! :)
I will be in transit in Busan for about 12 hours and I would like to know if there is any hotel close to the airport offering day room?
