Is it possible to go to the Achensee from Innsbruck as a day trip by public transportation? Could you suggest a nice village on this lake?

Thanks!!!

yes it is an easy daytrip, you simply have to change trains in Jenbach and the train to Achensee will be the oldest steamtrain in Austria.
Pertisau is a village on Achensee, but you cannot go there by that train, just Bus & ship.
The train ends at a kiosk, where you can take the boat and before you get there, you can also get out at a village, called Maurach.

Innsbruck to Jenbach by train, then steam train to Maurach. Maurach is on the Achensee. It is a pretty village with typical Austrian style houses and some pleasant restaurants. We spent a week there while on a package holiday years ago. You can walk along the lake from Maurach. It makes a pleasant stroll. If you are going in summer, you can swim in the lake. There is also a boat that does trips on the lake. Not sure if it runs all year round or just in the summer months.
