we are looking for a good all-inclusive or half board hotel with proper slides or activies for our kids.
We ran into Royal park hotel in burgas - but it got bad-bad reviews.
is there any hotels someone can recommend?

We are travelling to Obzor at the end of this month and are hiring a car. Which side of the road do you drive on and is it easy roads.
Second question is are there any wildlife places to go nearby as we just love wildlife and photography.
      Thanks

Driving throughout the interesting Spots in Bulgaria with a rented Car

      Bulgaria Feb 18, 2013 at 1:16 AM

How bad are the roads if, for instance we travel by rented cars(Ford Focus, Kia Ceed STW) from the Airport of Bulgaria to Sofia, up to Belogradchik, then to Gabrovo, to Veliko Tarnovo, to the boundary of Rumania in Ruse up to Giurgiu then to Bukarest for a two day trip there then go back down to Bulgaria in Shumen then to Burgas (at the Black Sea) then Kazanluk( Rose Perfume Factory) then back to Sofia. I am accompanied by my Sister who lives in Chicago and my male German friend who speaks perfect(100%) Bulgarian language. This is the Itinerary of our Travel and we paid a part of it already for the month of July to August. It´s a high season so we thought ot booking in advance also with the car. My doubts are the road conditions. Maybe some of you have been to Bulagaria already. Must i be worried? Although it is hard to believe but some sources said kidnapping is a trend esp when you are a traveller, how true is it? It is a pleasure to know the conditions and situations esp. the boundary to Bucarest. Anyway, we book in many good and safe Hotels. Thank you in advance!

      Burgas and Bombs

      Burgas Feb 14, 2013 at 1:10 PM

What are the internal security authorities doing about attacks like the train to Burgas. I was feeling pretty bum about that because I did a tour guided by a nice guy who lived in Burgas and always told my wife we should go there. Now I'm thinking "drive ourselves there?" I sure hope the government can root out the cells that plan bombings. Most tourists do not wish to gamble on being a target.

Sunny Beach Jan 20, 2013 at 2:34 PM

Hi me and my girls were thinking of going to sunny beach on the 14th august for a week, after reading some reviews on other forums about the area its made think is it a safe place for females especially black females. I was wondering if anyone can give me an insight if this place is welcoming of other cultures because I have been to other places in Europe and locals stare at me which makes me feel uncomfortable. Also is sunny beach a good place for night life because this my first holiday away from the parents and I want to have a good time :) Thanks

      Countryside - Split mountain monument

      Bulgaria Jan 11, 2013 at 1:51 AM

I was a long time ago in Bulgaria and visited a place I can't locate anymore. It was on those film camera times, so I don't have a photo. The place was in countryside, we went there by train and it was like a carved face in the wall of a mountain. It was "split" or hit by thunder and of course there were some story behind, love or God as normal (had some jumped from mountain and it was punished with lightning which broke the sculpture). Any help? It was a tourist place, I bought a miniature copy of the wall there.

      Sunny Beach

      Bulgaria Oct 18, 2012 at 9:01 AM

Seriously considering a holiday to the Sunny Beach area next year. Never have been all inclusive and am wondering what one can expect to pay to eat out in Bulgaria compared against an all in holiday. The all in quote I have is excellent price at what looks like a very good hotel and the reviews on Trip advisor are generally good for the hotel and food Can anybone give me an idea of an "average" meal out ?? Eg starter and main meal Visited Bulgaria 25 years ago and the food quality was poor in restaurants and normally served up luke warm though am told it has improved

    • Overnight train from Sofia to Bukarest

      Sofia Sep 8, 2012 at 2:34 AM

Hello all, I am travelling through Sofia in October and I was wondering if it is a hassle to book an overnight train ride (in a sleeping wagon) from Sofia to Bucharest in Sofia itself. I'm from Germany and I went to the Deutsche Bahn counter and asked if I could book it from here, but it's not possible. They couldn't even give me a website I could book it from. So I was wondering if I go to a counter in Sofia, will communicating this be a difficulty? I have an interrail ticket, which means I won't have to book the train ride, just the sleeping wagon. Has anyone done this before? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance. Regards

    • Bansko -> Malyovitsa + Seven Lakes -> Sophia by public transport

      Bulgaria Aug 1, 2012 at 4:34 AM

Hi, we are travelling in Bulgaria via public transport in August. Towards the end of our trip we plan on going to Bansko for two days then travel to Malyovitsa for two days, on our final day in Malyovitsa we plan to leave early morning and walk to the Seven Lakes, then at the end of the day we would like to get to Sophia somehow. Firstly does anybody know of any transport links between Bansko and Malyovitsa, or would this need to be a taxi journey? If so any tips on potential taxi price? Secondly I'm aware a bus leaves Dubnitsa at 17:30 on the day we are at the Seven Lakes however I don't think this gives us as much time as we'd like at the lakes, does anybody know of any other buses/public transport options from the lakes or know approximately how much a taxi from the lakes to Sophia would cost? many thanks!
