Buenos Aires Accommodation - Which part??

by Zlur Online Now Oct 5, 2007 at 11:26 AM

Hi all, I'm in the process of booking my first night in Buenos Aires (hostel) so that we will have a place to check in to after a whole day travelling; which is the best/safest area for 2 women? Is city centre bustling at night time? Because my friend read that at night time it's not as busy as during the day! I'm very confused. Please help, thanks! P.S. We prefer being where the heart and soul of the city is found :)

As with any large city there are several centers. The Micro Center is very busy during the day due to all the businesses located there. This is the commercial center of the city and close by is the government district. The safest area in general will be the Recoleta. It has very fashionable residential districts, fine dining, shopping etc. Also lots of clubs, bars etc. A more trendy area would be either Palermo SoHo/Hollywood or San Telmo. Both areas are reasonably safe taking the normal precautions you would in any city, don't flash cash, jewelery, or leave your bag unattended. I prefer the Palermo area more simply because of the concentration of boutiques, galleries, clubs, bars, dining etc. Here is a link to a web site that might help http://www.palermohollywood.net/ suerte SAM
