we plan to visit Szentendre directly after our arrival at Budapest airport. are there any lockers where we can leave our luggage at Szentendre train station for 2-3 hours so to enjoy the town without carry them with us?
Hi I don't know about Szentendre railway staion - since we went there by boat - but if you're coming in from Budapest, why take them all the way with you to start with? There are left luggage offices and lockers at all of Budapest's three main railway stations, so my suggestion ould be to leave them there - unless you're intending to overight in Szentendre? Enjoy - it's a fabulous part of the world! Regards Cathy

yes, the problem is that we wont return back to Budapest the same day.

Hi I suspected so. I don't think that this is a problem if you leave your stuff in the left luggage offices at the Budapest stations, but obviously it would need to be secure enough not to present temptation (for example, a lockable hard shell suitcase). Otherwise, could you not perhaps just go to your hotel in Szentendre first to dump your luggage? Regards Cathy

we will arrive at 13.00 and someone will pick us up from the station at 16.30 so for these 3,5 hours we have to carry them with us, maybe we can go slowly into town and choose a cafe or something, from what I see on googlemaps the city center isnt that far.

Szentendre is a pretty small place, so it shouldn't be too much hassle to get from the station to a cafe & sit there for a while (and there are places to sit which aren't cafes etc, of course). Won't be much fun if it's raining though.... It is also possible that your Szentendre accomm will allow you to drop off your bags before you check in properly. It's worth contacting them about this, I think. Alternatively, why not leave your bags at a Budapest station when you arrive and spend a couple of hours exploring Budapest before taking the train to Szentendre?

no, cant leave the lullage before 16.30. the main problem is that its on monday and most museums will be closed except Szabó Marzipan Museum, so we just want to walk around and check architecture etc We will see the museums the day after. spending a couple of hours in Budapest is a possibility too, but I dont really want to go far from Batthyany ter station. ps.We will return to Budapest 2 days later for proper sightseeing.

Well, if it doesn't rain you could perhaps go for a wander-with-bags round Szentendre, but be aware that the historical centre is a bit cobble-y and thus bumpy. And if it is raining, maybe it's worth sticking your bags in left luggage and doing a short 'recce' of Budapest?

lets forget the rain please :) ...I remember in Brugge we got out of the station and we had the heaviest rain ever :)

Been there, done that... But it will be warm, dry and sunny for your visit. Of course! :-)
