Cheap accomodation

by Turska Online Now May 3, 2012 at 1:54 AM

I´m helping my 19 years old god son to find a cheap hotel/hostel/apartment for their stay with his girlfriend for 4 nights in June. They have just been graduated coupple days before they come, and in their age, they want to party a little. We stayed near Nyugati pályaudvar, and I think it was great location, but they are in VERY low budget (should get 4 nights max.200e) to leave something for living there. If someone has good suggestions, be free to tell :) we didn´t go any nightclubs. Is there any open at week? (They will stay from tuesday to saturday) and if so, are they neaar Vaci ut? This is their first trip to somewhere more far than only Tallinn (next to Finland, every teenagers first trip..) without parents, so I try to help. I allready found coupple of apartments near Vaci ut for 117-140e for 4 nights together! Now I will start checking hotels.

It wasn´t cheaper than apartments I have found. Actually it is more expensive. Maybe it´s cheap for travelling alone, but not as cheap for a coupple. Thanks anyway :)

I think they are not as intrested in culture as we were. Of course they will see the castle, but it might be enough for them. They are more into shopping, eating out, walking around etc. Totally different than me and my husband :D We did see all the museums I think. Espesially when it was raining whole two weeks we were there!! At july!! Let´s hope the young coupple will have better weather. I found lots of cheap hotels ( from 100 to 160e for 4 nights for a doubble room) from trivago and venere. I also had sent them allready some apartment-links from only apartments. I´ll check those other ones you sent if they don´t book any of those. I promised to search, because I know the locations. But I don´t know about the nightlife. We did go for a beer at some resturnts, but nightclubs aren´t our thing. Thanks for lowbudget-restarants -link. I sent it to them. They choosed Budapest, because it was one of three chepaest flights from Ryanair, and anothers were EEdinburgh and Bremen, so Budapest is cheapest town to stay. And a nice town anyway! i say this even if we had that heavy non stopping rain!

Yesterday I wrote about a night life in Budapest, may be this info will be interesting for a young couple. Re: Budapest on a Thursday Night Posted: Wed May 2, 2012 08:07 AM CEST Budapest has an exciting and diverse nightlife. The opening hours are not limited by the city, so most weekend party places are open until dawn or even late mornings. Unlike in other cities, there is no specific district or part of town which is known for clubbing and nightlife; all the best places are in different districts of town. The selection of places to dance and drink or just listen to jazz or blues is enormous, even on weekdays. Admission fees are comparatively low, and drinks are generally cheap. There are many club types: modern dance clubs, cellar jazz bars, open-air party places with palm trees, late-night cafés and romantic cocktail bars and so on. Parties in the top clubs are well advertised in advance, but there's generally no need to get tickets before going there - the worst thing that can happen is that you'll have to stand in line a little bit before gaining admittance. However, if you are visiting Budapest with a bigger group, it's worth making a reservation guest list when going to a major party to avoid confusion at the door. There are places in Budapest that have a unique feel to them - the best examples are the so called ruin-clubs, mostly in Budapest's Jewish district. These alternative clubs are located in derelict old buildings, which are slated to be taken down, to give home to new housing projects. A typical ruin-pub last about 3 years before being forced to move somewhere else. Lots of young professionals spend their evenings here, huddled over their laptops, while listening to the occasional live jazz concert, munching a sandwich and drinking beer. From every spring until autumn, open-air clubs open their doors in South Buda, near the university district of Budapest and Margaret Island. Some of them even feature a small swimming pool for hot summer nights. The majority of live jazz clubs and bars are in Budapest's 5th and 7th district, near Blaha Lujza tér and Oktogon. The larger discotheques and clubs are all over the city, but many of them are clustered in the northern suburbs of Buda. Budapest abounds in clubs and bars, however to really enjoy nightlife in Budapest, you'd better gather some information to choose the right place or places that appeal to your musical or other preferences. The spectrum of Budapest nighclubs runs from trendy clubs with star DJ-s, to jazz, rock and roll, latin music, striptease, gay and lesbian clubs. Admission to most places is free, some ask 1500-2000 HUF/5-8 € entrance fee, especially if famous star DJ-s or bands perform. If you don't want to plan your night just go to Liszt Ferenc tér in the VI. district near the Opera House, Ráday utca in IX. district or in the V. district. These areas abounds in places of enetertainment, from dance clubs, pubs to cozy cafés.

Thanks, I sent him this. He plays in jazz/blues band himself. I´m sure they find it interesting! Looks like all the hostels are more expensive than hotels/apartments if you travel with someone. And I´m sure they want their own room, they are young and in love :) I think that allmost everywhere we have gone, hotels have been cheaper or as cheap as hostels. And I would never stay in hostel, if i don´t have to.

I did not read through all answers so maybe I will repeat something people already told. The Buda side of the Budapest looks more pleasant and posh - and surprize - it has more good quality inexpensive HOTELS (not hoStels!). It would be a hard job to list them, but IMO just stick to an OK hotel, avoid hostels (they often cost MORE!) and stick to the second and first district. Surprisingly even in the castle you can find sometimes hotels under the hostel price. Hotels in Pest are oriented to business visitors and in addition you do not want to stay on the Pest side in the summer heat.

That is so true, hostels are more expensive, if you don´t travel alone. And if you don´t want to sleep at a dorm. I did that in their age in interrail-trip, but I was with my sister, not with a boyfriend ;) We were in Budapest with my husband at 2004 (just before I bought digital camera, that´s why I don´t have Budapest tips in vt) and we liked Pest side better. I mean to live there. Of course Buda is a must to see, but at night Pest seemed more lively. I think I found quite a lot hotels for them and they will choose this weekend (because many of them said only 1 or 3 rooms left). And now I got some nightlife tips to them also. Thank you everyone!

The hotel I suggested isn't expensive at all. It has the only downside not being downtown.

But the ones I found were even more cheaper. The price is the main reason for them now. He is going to army soon after the trip, so now summerjob, and she didn´t get summerjob. They will choose some of those I found for less than 150e per 4 nights. Some of them had even 9/10 points at reviews!
