Hello all. I'm partial to a bit of hookah or waterpipe when i'm in a Turkish or Indian restaurant and so far i only know 2 places in Bp which offer hookah. One is near Hero Square and the other is around Terez korut i think. Does anyone know any other places(bars&restaurants) in Bp where it's possible to smoke hookah? Many thanks DG
I know one in a suburb, guess don't want to travel much for that? It's district 18, a district near the airport.

Hi We visited a Turkish cafe while in Budapest last weekend, and there were people smoking hookah in there. The name of the cafe is Cake Kara and you can see the website here: http://www.cafekara.hu/index_eng.html It is located close to Heroes Square and may be the cafe that you mention in your original post. Best wishes, Jonathan

That should of course be *Cafe* Kara...and not Cake Kara! It's a nice place, and there is a corner with cushioned seating given over to those who wish to smoke the waterpipes. You can find a menu on their website, and the pipes (known as narghiles) are listed under drinks. The following is taken from their menu: "What is better to a delicious Turkish tea, than a narghile, which puffs some fruity smoke. In the Kara Café, which recalls the atmosphere of the Turkish tea houses, you can taste the atmosphere of the Turkish pipe-rooms with a narghile filled with fruity tobacco for a minute. In Turkey it is a very popular pastime and it is not as harmful for your health as the cigarette." Cost of narghile = 1000 HUF Best wishes, Jonathan

I've tried waterpipe last year, when I was in a Sirius Tea House. It's located at street 13 Bródy Sándor, this street runs at the side of the National Museum, near "Astoria" and "Kálvin tér" metro stations.

The place is called Szent Lorinc Sorkert (St Lawrence Beer Garden), a small pub popular among local youth (well, mostly high school students, no universities around), located in the street side of a market hall. It's at the crossroads of Ulloi ut and Haladas utca. Take metro M3 to Hatar ut, then tram 50 to Szarvas csarda ter. Get off and walk back to the traffic lights, cross the street and you'll see the market hall on your right.
