Voltage converter for use in budapest from US 110/220 HU

we recently purchased a 1600 watt voltage converter for use in budapest by American tourista company. The package states it should not be used to recharge batteries which is WHY we bought the unit in the first place. To anyone's knowledge, IS there a unit which CAN be used as we planned on taking a multitude of pictures with a digital camera, requiring many battery uses since they gobble up batteries. thanx for any and all replies
