    Hi, I'm not a golfer but I'm a local.

There are a few golf courses in Brighton - two of them might suit you:

    East Brighton Golf Club
    voice(01273) 604838
    Fax: (01273) 680277
    Roedean Road, Brighton, BN2 5RA

    Waterhall - (01273) 508 658 is just north of Brighton. http://www.waterhallgolf.org.uk/

The most attractive course is nearer to Eastbourne. It is on the cliffs just east of Seaford. Fantastic location on Seaford Head. You don't need to be a member.

You might want to book a time in advance of your trip so that you get to play.

I've just realised that you are the same person who asked about trips from Eastbourne!

I have another suggestion for you.

You can drive along the coast to Rottingdean (or take a bus the number 700 goes from Eastbourne along the coast). There is a mini golf course there. Not very taxing for a serious golfer, but then there are some good pubs in Rottingdean so you might not want to play all day. I'd particularly recommend the Black Horse (on the main road away from the seafront) for atmosphere, and The Coach House (near to the sea) for food.
