Can anyone give me a better idea of what activities are available for fall visitors to the Breckenridge/Summit County area? We're going to be out there for a week in early October. It looks like a lot of the summer activities only run through Labor Day, and the winter season doesn't really start until November. I've had some trouble finding information on things that are still options in the meantime. Thanks for any and all ideas!
October's an odd-bod in Summit County. It's sort of fall but almost winter. The weather will be very changeable. There's still plenty of hiking to do but you have to be prepared for all weathers and stick to recognised routes. The 34 bars in Frisco should still be open if you fancy a major pub crawl. Getting around without a car is easy - the freebie summit stage bus service runs all year - www.summitstage.com and so you can tour the area by bus. If you're driving then take a day out to Rocky Mountain National Park. If you want the best breakfast in the area visit the Arapahoe Cafe in Dillon. There's loads to do - try www.summmitactivities.com for a few ideas. Hope this provides some useful stuff - have a great trip!

you may experience indian summer or it might snow a foot. If you luck out on the weather hiking in the mountains or bicycling on the extensive recreational path system would be awesome ( not an overuse of that annoying word). good advice above for breakfast.

Go to www.summitactivities.com. They have a list of all the activities you can do in all the mountain towns. Including breckenridge. I live in denver and visit breckenridge at least once a year. Its amazing. Make sure you experience it all! even if the best of it is in the winter. lol :)
