Hi.. While we know the "dress" rules in Paris, we're wondering about the Burgundy region. With bike riding and walking through vineyards and cobblestone, are sneakers / trainers more acceptable here? Do people wear shorts during the warmer weather? Thanks..
Do you need to make a reservation to take the bus from Paris to Noyers, if so, how early? Can it only be done by phone, does the proprietor speak English as my French is very poor?
Hi! Can You recommend some nice place to stay in Dijon from March 15 to March 18?
Hi folks! We'll be traveling to France in May 2013 and will have 5 days in Beaune. We'll be traveling around by train and I was hoping for some hints from people on places to visit around the area. We'd also like to find a guide or tour that can take us to a couple vineyards. Anyone have any ideas? Can you recommend a guide or tour group? Many thanks.. Tom

Hi I have been trying to get some information about travel by train to Chiddes from Paris CDG. We are flying in from Scotland and were hoping to get the train to Bourgogne. I have registered with 3 tourist site and none of replied so am stuck. Can anyone provide help and advice? We are 4 adults travelling and haven't been to France other than a Paris trip, which was wonderful. We have been put off driving in France by several forum comments, recent legislation etc. Chiddes appears to be very remote. We believe we can register for advanced tickets and have done so are crossing our fingers we get an email prompt for the main journey. We had hoped to train from Paris to Luzy then get a smaller train or taxi from Luzy to Chiddes. many thanks (or merci beaucoup) Lorraine Hutcheson (Dunfermline, Scotland) Lori
Am planning to spend about 4-5 day around the region, sometime mid to end May. Any suggested itinerary and places to stay (budget about Eur 100-120/night)? Is it challenging to join a cycling tour? (I am just a "social" cycler, for leisure only so far) Thanks!!
How do I travel to Nevers from Lourdes?

We are visiting Beaune on a Monday and would like a recommendation for lunch or early dinner at an establishment serving traditional Burgundian fare. Does anyone have a suggestion?
I will be travelling in Burgundy in March to see art and architecture of the region. So far I have plans to see Hospices de Beaune, The Cathedral in Vezelay, the works of Gislebertus(my favorite) in Autun. We will be traveling by train or bus (no car) so some places, like the Abbey of Fontenay, will unfortunately be out of our reach. I would love your recommendations for art and architecture in this region. I especially enjoy Romanesque scupture, but also love Gothic, tapestries, stained glass, etc. Oh, and if you know of any budget (under 70 euros for a double) hotels/b & b's centrally located in the towns I'd appreciate that info too!
I will driving from CDG Paris to Dijon approximately 6 Sept 20011 and was wondering which would be the most scenic route A5, A6 or (D231 and N71 via Troyes)? Any information would be greatly appreciated, do not need to take toll highways. Thanks for your input. Jack
Hello everyone, I will be in Dijon for 2 days in late November. I was wondering if you could recommend any walking trails (along Burgundy channel maybe) for 1/2 day if the weather permits. I am also interested in short trips by bus/train to nearby villages. Any suggestions are welcome. Merci beaucoup d'avance.
Can anyone guide me on good hotels near Magny-Cours? My clients are going to watch the F1 Super Bikes and I cannot get anything. Even further away will do as long as they can get transport. Can anyone teel me if there will be trains/busses/taxis from Paris to Magny-cours area?

We had booked a self bargin vacations on the Canal du Nivernais. Due to the renting company policy we have to pick up and drop off the boat in Vermenton. I have some unresolved issues regarding these vacations and would appreciate assistance in replying to all or part of my questions: 1) We booked a train from Paris to Auxerre, but could not figure our how to get from Auxerre to Vermenton (some 40 km.). Is there another train? Bus? Cab? I also suspect that the mooring place is not in Vermenton but some 5-10 km. west. Am I right? 2) On our way back we plan to rent a car and to before returning to Paris, to spend 2 nights in the Loire Valley. Somehow, the closest place for car rental I could find was Auxerre (again..). Is there a car rental office in Vermenton or close to it? 3) As to the barging itself, it should be (as I mentioned above) a round trip from and to Vermenton. As our company had taken already the northern route to Joigny, we think to take mainly the south direction. In view of the car rental issue above, and also as we would like to visit some wineries south of Auxerre, my plan is to head south down (up?) to Chatel Censoir (to pay a visit to VEZELAY Cathedral), not to continue more south to Clamecy, but rather to return via Vermenton to Auxerre (renting a car there) and then to Vermenton for returning the boat. Is this plan feasible on a leisure (not too fast) pace or should we cut our sail toward south at norther place (Le Saussois or nearby)? Well, I hope it is not too much to ask and hoping to receive answers. Thanks in advance, Hillel
Do you know of a boat ride a group of 5 can take for a day or part of a day in Burgundy? We are staying in Vezalay, visiting Beaune and very much want to take a one day or part of a day boat or barge, canal or river ride Suggestions?

Bonsoir, I am planning a day trip to Dijon and I would like to visit some wineries or small towns nearby by push bike. Does anyone know whether this is possible, ie are there any bike paths and wineries within 20-30 kilometres of Dijon? Thank you! Merci d'avance!
I have the opportunity to return to Dijon for a week this summer. I will have 4 afternoons to myself. I have already spent 3 days seeing the wonderful sites in Dijon and have been to Beaune, Montbard and Auxerre. Can you suggest any good half-day trips by train or bus?

Hi. I wonder if anyone can tell much which bus I can take from the station (SNCF) to the town centre? I had a look at the Auxerre Tourism site and there is bus information there, but I can't figure out which bus I need to take. I also sent the tourist office an email, but I've had no reply. Many thanks
