We are looking to stay 5 nights and want a villa with a pool. Anything under USD 600/700 per night will be good with us...

    • Karma Jimbaran through The Bali Getaway

      Jimbaran Apr 13, 2015 at 6:41 PM

We are looking at staying at Karma Jimbaran through a Bali Getaway offer. I'm just wondering if anyone has experience with either the Karma Jimbaran or The Bali Getaway.
The price they have offered is incredibly cheap and from what I have found out this is because they are going to try and sell us timeshare and take us to a 2 hour (expecting half day) sales pitch. I'm fine with that and happy to give them a half day for the price.
I just want to make sure that I'm not going to pay and then find out that it was a total scam and my money disappears.

I would also love any feedback on the resort itself.

      Thanks so much,

      Cathy

      First days in Bali

      Bali Apr 19, 2015 at 4:27 AM

      Hej :)
I'm arriving on Bali in the first days of May and would like to hear your opinion about how to start the first days.
As I land in Denpasar in the late evening, I was thinking to take taxi directly to Tanah Lot, spend a night there, have a day of sight seeing and continue to Ubud. Would a day be enough? How should I travel to Ubud, by taxi or bus?
Or would it be better to go directly to Ubud and take a daily tour from there to Tanah Lot?

      Hi,

I'm wondering if you can offer some town & accommodation suggestions- Nearly 1 month trip.
I'm traveling with 2 teen girls (16) who love culture, surfing/have surfed, but are beginners.
We are looking for nice accommodations (4 star or 3 star) on or walking to some beautiful (swimmable?) beaches, Surfing around..Of course they also want fun in Legian/Kuta too :)

This is what I have planned so far but honestly I have no idea - anything can be changed...going off reviews online

      Can change any of this:
June 12-20 - Ubud *culture*, day trips, Homestay
      June 20 & 21 - ? Dreamland beach AREA?
      June 22-24 Java Borobudur *culture*
      June 25-27 - ? ?
      June 27-July 2 - ? Gili Trawangan ? Not sure
July 2-8 - ? Legian Area On the beach for last 5 days?

      Thanks !

    • Taxi or Bus trip from Makassar to Palu

      Makassar Apr 15, 2015 at 3:14 AM

I'm thinking of a trip by taxi or bus from Makassar to Palu.
I want to make a trip on the western coast. Since I wan'na avoid Lake Poso and its visinity, because I heard Lake Poso area is dangerous due to terrolists.

If by taxi, what is good methods to pick up a reliable one ? How much is a normal cost ?
How many hours does it take ? A rough figure is okay. Even if the cost is a bit higher, I wan'n choose a safer way.
And I think the distance maybe 900Km. Do we need to make a stopover along the way ?

If by bus, are there buses running through this rout - I mean along the western coast of the Slawesi Island ? Making a bus transfer is okay.
Where is the bus terminai in Makassar ? And if you know, where is it in Palu ?

      Regards,

I'm not looking to break the bank but will settle for a decent 4-5 star such as hard rock sheraton etc. also please recommend which area I should choose to stay. I'm traveling solo n will be in Bali for about 5 nights. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I am planning to fly to Jogja in the first week of June to visit Borobudur and Prambanan. I hope to be able to stay at the Princess Manohara Hotel (if room is available) and wonder if this is a good time of the year to visit both UNESCO World Heritage sites, re: weather wise and people wise (how busy it gets at this time of year)? Appreciate any relevant advice.

by MaBaWiTa Online Now Jun 8, 2011 at 11:30 AM

We are in the process of preparing our July/August visit to Java.

One of our questions is: is the next programme/route feasable to be carried out in one day?
After breakfast in Borobudur (no sunrise event, Borobudur temple complex being done in the day before) via Kepit and Wonosobo to Dieng plateau, visit Dieng plateau, then via Lake Telaga (short visit) - Kertek - Parakan - Temanggung - Kaloran - Bandungan/Salatiga; sleep in Salatiga or Bandungan or Ambarawa.

The trip would be carried out with a car + driver.

Many thanks in advance for a motivated reply!

Hi, I have just booked my flight to yogyakarta next week and is frantically looking for a hotel near Borobudur as most of them are already fully booked due to Vesak Day.
An exception is Lotus Guesthouse, which i called up and the person in-charge said that they should have a room available for me on vesak day, but I just need to call back to confirm it a day before...
      My questions are:
Is this the 'right' way of making a hotel reservation? with no formal reservations etc what if they don't have a room when i arrive?
And can anyone enlighten me on the distance it is from Borobudur? Is it at walking distance?

Thanks so much and hope to get some feedback from you kind souls pretty soon... :_)

by amytoh28 Online Now Apr 9, 2007 at 10:26 PM

      Dear VTers,

Am planning a 5D4N trip to Borobudur sometime August or September 2007. Will be flying in to Solo via Air Asia and have the following questions which I will much appreciate it if I could get feedback on:

      1. How long is the journey from Solo to Yogyakarta by taxi and how much does it cost?
      2. Do I need to pre-book a taxi or can I just get one on arrival?
      3. Is August and September 2007 ok to travel in terms of weather?
      4. Is 5D4N enough for the trip, taking into account that I'll fly in/out f rom Solo and would also like to visit Prambanan and Mt Bromo. The flights in/out of Solo are before noon.
      5. Any good hotel recommendations that is clean, cheap (budget is USD20/room/night)?
      6. Any trusted guide recommendation?
      7. How much should I pay for rental of a car (for 2 pax) or a van (for 4 pax) daily with fuel/driver cum guide/insurance?
      8. What else should I see/do in Yogyakarta and/or Solo?

That's about all the questions I could think of now and thanking everyone in advance for their invaluable feedback.

P.S. Noted that the forum for Borobudur is a bit 'quiet'.
