I was in Boracay a few weeks ago, you will love it there. You have had the full details above so I will only reinforce the suggestion about the Red Pirate paraw. Joey the skipper is a very good and safe sailor and a really nice bloke. Go to Red Pirate bar and ask for Joey or Jen, they will fix it for you. Regarding accomodation, I stayed in Frendz Hostel which was great. It is a backpacker place owned by an Austrian guy and his Filipina wife. It has a nice feel about it. Have a look at my Boracay page for full contact details etc. Hope this assists, fergy.

There are restaurants and bars all along the White Beach, with the more affordable end being in Angol, station 3. There are plenty of budget rooms there and it is a more peaceful area. I disagre with Scarlett that it is really far from the action. It is a gentle ten minute stroll down the beach to get to the crowded area, and you need not be at all athletic to do it! Strange comment to make! If you are elderly or disabled (or just feeling lazy) there are trikes and pedicabs to drive you about. If you are not from the Philippines, avoid Mang Inasal and Andoks. Most foreigners really do not like these local junk food chain stores - the food is greasy and unappetizing (sickly sweet hamburgers, tasteless, oily fried chicken) and there is no need to eat at them to eat cheaply. Try Smoke Restuarant, and the numerous places around the "talipapa" (market).

I love Filipino food and have had some great meals here but unfortunately my one experience of Andok's in D'Mall in Boracay was not good. It has ut me off this chain when there are so many other good options (Foodnet, Jo's etc.). I wonder how Camille (the original poster) got on, she never came back to tell us.

Yes, if you are coming to Boracay to hang at the mall and eat at chainstores then you may find the ten minute walk to the "city" far. But many people, specially foreign visitors, go to Boracay to experience the beach and relaxation (not malls, which they have back home anyway) and are not keen on the crowded belam and noise pollution of station 2, nor do they want chain store junk food (look up the term - it fits!). Greasy, flavorless fried chicken doesn't represent good authentic Filipino cuisine to me. And the burgers at Mang Inasal, as someone else pointed out, are pathetic. It isn't quality food. To sum up, for many people station 3 is what they are looking for (clean, affordabl and quiet tropical beach, not too crowded or commercial) and it isn't "far" from the things they will enjoy because they don't go to Boracay for chain stores.
