do you think it is possible and safe to travel from puno to Copacabana, then to take ferry to sun is

island ourselves? I know there are many buses from puno to Copacabana.. I can just stay at a hostel there and then ferry to sun island in the morning and maybe stay on the island for a night? do u think that is doable? I read somewhere I need to pay 100$ to cross the boarder? do I need visa if I am USA citizen? ty
