Renting scooters?

Sorry, another quick question!! How safe is it to rent scooters/motorbikes in Bol? Basically I went to thailand and I have never seen so many motorbike accidents in my life. Thanks!!!

    My brother rented them several times in the past and never had any problems... Of course you always have to be careful, but there wasn't much traffic.
