If anyone could recommend a decent and fairly inexpensive hotel (or motel) in downtown Boise, it would be greatly appreciated. We have a book of Motel's 6's and Travel Lodges but we don't know exactly where they are in relation to the center of the city. Thanks so much.. JP
Make sure to avoid hotels that are in Meridian or Nampa. They're nearby cities which may be labelled as 'suburbs of Boise'. By the way.. that part of Idaho is pretty boring :(

Try the Best Western Safari Motor Inn. Pretty inexpensive and great location right downtown. The Shilo Inn Riverside is pretty close to downtown, and a bit cheaper. There are quite a few motels downtown, particularly on the short west side, that probably don't get booked up...they're not as nice but you wouldn't have to worry about crime (Boise is a pretty safe place).

Shilo is probably a good bet. It is right on the greenbelt (a pedestrian and bike path that will go by 8th Street, which will take you straight to downtown.....might be a .5 to 1 mile walk??)
