    • Hotel and Transport advice for Brussels in June

      Brussels Feb 16, 2015 at 4:35 AM

      Hello All
I am traveling to Brussels for three nights in June with my daughter to see the One Direction concert at King Baudouin Stadium.
We are flying into and out of Charleroi airport.
The concert is on Saturday 13th June and I am guessing it will finish quite late. Our flight is then the following morning and we will need to be at the airport for approx 5am on the Sunday.
When we fly into Charleroi it is during the day so I think we will get on a metro to whereever our hotel ends up being.
Please can you help with hotel recommendations for two females to stay in that is on a reasonable budget. It would need to be easy to get to and from the stadium and airport but also close to some sort of facilities - shops and restaurants. Also I need advice on the best way to get back from the Stadium late at night and to the airport for a very early flight.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
      Thank you in advance.

    • Looking for a specific bar

      Antwerp Feb 9, 2015 at 6:47 AM

Looking for a bar with live music for aspiring local musicians. The bar was named after the uncle of the bar proprietor/owner: "Bar ...". It was an feminine sounding name.

Hope to learn the name and location!

We are going to Brussels in March and stopping at Hotel Siru. Any advice on what clothes to take? Cost of transport? Surrounding sightseeing and best places to eat? Finally being able to communicate if you cannot speak the language?

      Thank you all in advance

    • Benelux Train Passes

      Belgium Feb 4, 2015 at 11:51 PM

We plan to visit Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg in April for about 9-10 days. We are a family of four - 2 adults, 2 youths. We intend to buy 5 day Benelux pass that we intend to use for the following sections:
      Day 1: Amsterdam-Hague-Rotterdam-Amsterdam
      Day 2: Amsterdam-Brussels
      Day 3: Brussels-Bruges-Brussels
      Day 4: Brussels-Luxemborg-Namur-Brussels
      Day 5: Brussels-Ghent-Antwerp

      Questions: 1
      1) Any advice on whether this is cost effective compared to buying say 3 day Benelux pass and purchasing local tickets for some of the sectors around Brussels. The sites are really confusing with Thalys prices showing up everywhere.

      2) I assume there are local train options i.e. benelux available that we can use for the itinerary above

      3) As I see it, for Benelux second class pass, there is no reservations needed - Is that true?

      4) Do we just grab any seats that are available? What if we reach the train station and the train is full? Does that happen often?

      Thank you for your help

      Sand Sculptures

by lifeisatrip Online Now Jun 25, 2009 at 4:51 AM

The VT email from Stephanie that has a linked to 'the world in a grain of sand' (Sand sculpture Festival in Zeebrugge) picked my curiosity. I found through research that it is in Blankenberge. However, the Belgium Tourist website does not say anything about it. I found last year's postings about it in different travel websites, but none about this year's.

Does anyone out there have the info on this? If it's happening this year and when.

      Thank you.

We will be arriving into Zeebrugge in September for 1 day only. We really want to visit Poelkapelle War Cemetery and it looks like we will have to drive there.
Would we be able to get a car rental in Zeebrugge or Blankenberge?

    • distance from cruise port of zebrugges to blankenberge

by delila Online Now May 10, 2005 at 9:53 AM

We will be in Zebrugge in June as one of our ports of call. We are hoping to get to Bruges on our own instead of taking a taxi or ship excursion. How far is the walk to the train in Blankenberge from where the cruise ships dock? (assuming it's walkable 1-2 miles_ Many thanks!
