    • St Pancras area

      London 25 minutes ago

We will be going to London later this year - 2013. We have stayed in St. James/Westminister area in the past and we loved it, but will need to get the train at St. Pancras at the end of our visit. How is the St. Pancras area?
      Thank you.

Best Tourist route round 'Cornish Alps'

I would hate to drive round the china clay area, near St Austell, not know where the best vantage point was for photographs. I have looked at some spectacular photos in books but they don't say exactly where they were taken or if there are any access restrictions. Can anyone help?
Also, is there more than one access road (gate) to the Eden Project or does everyone have to approach from the same side?

Good accomodation in the Lake District

Lake District National Park May 7, 2013 at 3:01 PM

      Hi everyone,

I will be visiting the lake district with my family for about three nights at the start of June (We have a 3 year old and an 8 month old)

Can anyone recommend some excellent accomodation near any of the lakes? We visited Bowness-on-Windermere briefly last year and were enchanted.

Budget is a consideration & self catering is fine, but our main desires are cleanliness, scenery and hopefully the likes of a rustic log fire!

      Thanks for your help folks.

      Heathrow May 21, 2013 at 3:26 AM

I apologize for re-posting this question but I am a newbie and I don't know how to remove my first question.

I don't think that I was very clear in that query. Please let me try again. I am landing on a BA flight at LHR Terminal 5 on Sunday mid morning. A friend, who is also flying BA, is expected to arrive at LHR Terminal 5 a couple of hours later.

Is there a comfortable place (with luggage in tow) that I can watch the screens to see the status of her flight and wait for her to clear customs we can then meet up so we can then proceed to the Heathrow Express?

      Thanks everyone for your patience!

Eurostar ticket advance purchase London Brussels

      London Yesterday

Other VT's have advised to purchase Eurostar tickets in advance for trips for example London Brussels changing to Amsterdam. How much time in advance is recommenced to get a good price? We are now looking at 3 months from now/May 26st. Also there are 4 seniors traveling together, if that makes any difference. In Brussels changing trains to Amsterdam, there is 15 minutes between trains, does that seem like enough?

Blackpool Accommodation During the Rebellion Punkfest August 7th - 10th 2008

by TheSingingPostman Online Now Jul 25, 2008 at 2:56 AM

Can any of youse eggheads give me any indication of how easy/difficult it'll be for me to find pleasant but inexpensive guesthouse accommodation (with ensuite) in August during the Rebellion Punkfest (7/8/9/10th)? What mistakes shouldn't I make? I'm guessing that I may be emerging from the Winter Gardens at around 2.00 a.m. each night so public transport'll be thin on the ground and also yer average guesthouse won't relish punters coming back in at such a late hour, will they? I'll need to be within walking distance of the Winter Gardens, won't I? Which probably means the most popular hotels will be in that area and they'll all be booked up. And do the locals beat the crap out of punks who wander around late at night? Or is every night party night in Blackpool in August, with jolly persons filling the streets till 4.00 a.m., exchanging good-natured banter and witty repartee as opposed to kicking people's heads in?

Where to go and stay in November, and how do you get from Blackpool to Liverpool Airport?

by happyhourkid Online Now Jul 2, 2007 at 7:32 PM

Hoping someone can tell me where is a decent place to stay and some of the good pubs in Blackpool. I know I'm not going during the best of times weather-wise, but nevertheless I will be there in Early November. I need a place to stay. Doesn't necessarily need to be the Ritz Carlton, but then again I don't want the Bates Motel either. Something decent for a modest price. I'm looking for something near the Empress Ballroom-somewhere within reasonable staggering distance because I will be drinking heavily celebrating the reunion of the Verve, which is why I will be in Blackpool in the first place. Also, I wouldn't mind knowing what the best combination of reliability and economy is for getting from Blackpool to Liverpool Airport, as I have a flight to Latvia the next day. Whoever can help out the best wins an ice cold pint of your choice, personally paid for by me. :) Thanks, Happyhourkid
