Hello, i am planning to go to schwarzwald with my boyfriend from frankfurt, mid September. i was thinking maybe a 4 or 5 day trip, go to karlsruhe then strasbourg, colmar,(maybe also Basel if there is time), freibourg, baden baden. i now that all these cities are not far away from each other, but do you think there is enough time to see everything without being stressed out? the point is, he would also like to take some time and relax, explore the black forest and all the nice scenery that has to offer. where should we go besides karlsuhe and freiburg? i have also read about titisee... our main goal is to visit schwarzwald, so pls advise!
Karlsruhe, Strasbourg, Colmar and Basel are all very nice towns, but they aren’t actually in the Black Forest. If seeing the Black Forest is your main goal, my suggestion would be to go to Freiburg (which is at least on the edge of the Black Forest) and take day trips from there. I’m curious about what other people will suggest.

2 towns in the Black Forest that I like are Freudenstadt and Wildbad, we just walked around, Wildbad has pretty parks and gardens, but you would be able to wander around for an hour or two then go somewhere else.

Nemorino, you are right, but i thought, since we are in the area, we also visit those cities... maybe it is too much, if we also want to go to the black forest... the point is, besides Freiburg, i do not know where else to go around, to see the forest and maybe lakes, falls, nice landascapes in general.

I would agree with Nemoriono, Freiboug is a good place to base yourself. Plenty to see and do. St Peters, Titisee, Triborg, the spa towns of Bad Krozingen and Baden Weiler, then my favorite places Staufen and Munstertal.

Will you go by car? If so, then take the B 500 from Baden-Baden south. It'll take you right into the Black Forest. Make a first stop at the Mummelsee. It's a bit touristy, but as soon as start walking around the lake you'll leave the tourists behind. The stores at the parking lot sell lots of souvenirs, some are beautiful, others, well not so beautiful. The restaurant is quite good. Bring jackets, even if it's nice and warm in Baden-Baden. I was just there a few weeks ago, it was hot in the valley and cold, foggy and very windy up at the lake. Then continue on the B 500 and stop at the Ruhestein. That's my favourite spot in the Black Forest. Either walk up or take the chair lift up, then go for a walk. There is a small lake down below the trail, if you like, you can climb down. I haven't done this, but I've waited for my children to come back up. They enjoyed it very much. If you have more time, you can do a very nice hike between the Ruhestein and Mummelsee. Baiersbronn is a good base for the region, if you want to spend the night there. It's also famous for very good food. The next day continue on the B 500 down south, stop in Triberg to see the waterfall, and then go on to Freiburg.

Some places I like in the Black Forest are Calw, Titisee and Schluchsee. I think 4-5 days would not be enough to visit all six cities you mentioned, plus the Black Forest. At least it would be quite stressful, and you wouldn’t see much, which would be a shame.
