lodging near north rim

by FransM Online Now May 10, 2009 at 8:33 AM

Hi,

Is there any lodging near the north rim entrance?

I'm planning a tour through UT+CO. We would like to visit both the N and S rim.
The plan was to travel from Great Sand Dunes to the N rim, stay there and visit the N rim, then drive to the S rim and stay and visit there, then move on to Mesa Verde.

Or would it be better to stay the first night e.g. in Gunnison, then the next day visit the N rim and at the end drive to e.g. Montrose, stay there and then visit the S rim.

Of course I'm also open to any other suggestion!

Thansk alot! Frans

Montrose is only 6 miles from the entrance to Gunnison. We stayed at the Best Western, just on the edge of town. It worked out great for visiting the Black Canyon and heading to trails. If you're looking to camp, there is camping in the Black Canyon. Here's the link to the south rim camping area... recreation.gov/CO/SOUTH%20RI...

You're gonna love it in the park.
