What are the main tourist places to be visited in one day tour to Birmingham?
Does anyone know if one can park for 12 hours in the village of Bickenhill which is nearby? The official parking lots are all 4.5 miles away, you have to wait for transfer buses which only come every 30 minutes, so I am trying to find my own solution. Thanks for any tips,. Stefan
I'm an exchange student from Vancouver, Canada who's moving to Birmingham soon. I'll be living in Edgbaston and I was wondering what the best way to get around town is for a student (mostly from Edgbaston to the main shopping area and Broad Street) (ie. is there a certain bus pass or metro pass that I can buy for the term?). Thanks in advance
Need some help with finding a new home. Could you please recommend me a few places in/around Birmingham. It would be great if it's close to a train station for easier commuting to work. Thanks for any help!

Any one have any tips on getting from Birmingham to Dublin by rail & ferry?
Traveling to Birmingham from the USA for a long weekend to attend the Aston Villa V Manchester match. Will be flying into the Birmingham International. So, we need something that is close to a rail station for easy/fast transportation and hauling of bags. We would like a fun, safe & reasonable priced central area. Easy travel to Birmingham New Street Rail Station would be good also. (We are thinking about taking the rail/ferry to Dublin later and it leaves from the New Street Rail Station.)
So, I'm going to be travelling to Birmingham on business in the next couple of weeks, but I have to find my own accommodations. I'd like to find a hotel that's reasonably cheap and close by the airport. I found one site, birmingham-airport-hotel.co...../, that lists hotels right by the airport, but of course hotels are always different. Does anybody have any personal experience with the hotels on that site? They seem to be mostly chains; are they good representations of the chains they are named after? Also, how bad does traffic tend to be in Birmingham? I don't even really know much about the city. Should I look into renting a car or am I better off with public transport?
On a wander around birmingham at the weekend I spent ages looking at all the fab measurements on what looked like a massive brass scale ruler inset in to the ground - also other little brass squares with links and numbers on them - can anyone tell me what these are, what they were for etc? thanks

There are 3 of us in our early 40s visiting for weekend of 4/5 Feb (two from Ireland, one from London) and we would like to meet people our own age. Some nice ladies would be a bonus as two of us are single. Would really appreciate some advice. JP Dublin

Thanks for all the good comments about places to avoid in Birmingham. I've just recently moved to Birmingham and am living in a houseshare in Erdington. Not the safest of areas I've realised as today there was a break-in at the house I share (with me in the house!). Luckily I managed to scare them off but now I'm in search of a safer neighbourhood. I need somewhere to rent close to public transport for around Birmingham with shops and amenities nearby. Where are the safest parts of Birmingham? Surely there must be some nice parts!!! Any advice would would be greatly appreciated!! Feeling unsafe in Brum, J

I need to travel from Birmingham International Airport to Derby. Please give me specific directions as this will be my first visit to the UK. My preferred mode of travel is rail.
We are flying Ryan Air out of Birmingham Intl. Airport. The train stops at Birmingham Airport and Birmingham Intl. Airport. Are they the same? I can buy a ticket to either on the website. Which should I choose?
Hi! I am wondering whether it is feasible to transfer between a Ryanair flight and a FlyBe flight at Birmingham international with two hours between landing and departure of the next flight. Bear in mind I will have to collect my luggage from the Ryanair flight, and I am a non-EU passport holder, so that will also take longer. Check-in at FLybe will also take time, given that I have to have my visa checked and passport details entered. Should I just be on the safe side and book the next flight, which is 6 hours later? I have never flown through Birmingham before. Thanks!
Hi, how do I get to the Railway Station (central in Birm.) from Birmingham airport? And how long does it take to get there from the airport? Thank you...
Hi Guys Will be visiting Birmingham on the Sunday the 7th for a night. 4 mid 20's lads on the beer. Were stopping in a Travelodge in the city centre (broad st) and will be visiting the NEC between 6.30 and 9.30 for a football masters event. Can you advise a couple of good pubs to visit in the day near broad st... also best way to get two and from the NEC? Lastly after the football we thought it would be rude not to try the famous midlands curry can anyone recomend a good Indian Restaurant (bearing in mind its gonna be 10pm by the time we get there) and maybe somewhere decent thats open late on a sunday for a night cap? Thanks Ross
