We're 3 40-something females travelling to Birmingham for the weekend, staying in the centre. Looking for recommendations for restaurants and nightlife please. Venues with good live music would be great. Tyvm in advance
Hi, Head for Bullring, and there's a nice resto there: http://www.del-villaggio.com Also clubs, bars scattered around. A good place to feel the vibe of Birmingham generally. Have a good time :-)

The biggest night-life area is along Broad Street which is just a litle bit out of the centre to the West - around the Canal basin, Brindley Place, International Convention Centre etc especially on Friday/Saturday night. The area around Colmore Row, the Cathedral, New Street and Corporation street are quite lively too. Depending on your taste in music, Scruffy Murphy's in Dale end on the other side of town is great for rock fans. The O2 Academy do a lot of tri=bute bands but some are advance ticket shows. There is another area - Hurst Street/Hippodrome/Arcadian centre with a range of restaurants and some lively pubs - not sure about music there though.
