pre-paid disposable phone

by jerry8888 Online Now Jan 2, 2007 at 5:32 PM

I am traveling from USA to Birmingham, England and I would like to have a mobile phone to use while there. Does anyone know if I can purchase a pre-paid disposable phone at the Birmingham airport to use for local calls while in the UK? If not can I rent one at the airport or in one of the towns? Details appreciated.

You can get them easily. They're not disposable; you can keep it for a future trip or sell it on eBay.

There are a lot of providers there. I chose O2 because I could geta SIM card on eBay (I already had a multiband GSM phone that will work there) and it works in Canada so I could test it and get it topped up before I go.

It's usually easier and cheaper to buy there, though, at least if you don't buy at the airport.

If you're on Cingular or T-Mobile USA you might be able to use your phone. Do some googling.

http://www.prepaidgsm.net will help you to choose the best provider for you.
