I'm looking for one or two nights (Fri, Sat, or both) Memorial day weekend and I'm striking out. Anyone have a cabin or vacation rental with one or both of these nights available or have any tips for me for finding one? I've contacted all those on vrbo.com and craigslist and not having luck. All ideas welcome, and thank you in advance!!
Last minute travel down there on any weekend let alone a holiday can be problematic. Check Monterey, Pacific Grove and Carmel sites for availablity. Also Caramel Vally which is actually a bit closer. All are about 30 minutes from Big Sur so you can visit even if you can't stay there.

Not much time but The Carmel Mission Inn, located just behind the Barnyard Shopping Mall, on Rio Road, one block off Hwy 1 in Carmel is a very nice Hotel/Motel. Close to Big Sur. Prices may be a little on the high side for a Holiday Weekend but worth the try. See their website: http://www.carmelmissioninn.com/
