What's the fastest way to get to Bethany Beach from the DC area? Mapquest has us on Route 50 and MD 404 for long periods. Aren't those roads with lots of streetlights, and stop and go traffic? Is there a faster way to get there? Thanks in advance!
Well you more or less have to go across the Bay Bridge on US 50. Mapquest says their route is 127 miles and 3 hours and 6 minutes. Average speed about 41 mph I haven't done that route for some time but I think I remember 50 to 404 to Bridgeville and then down US 13 and across Delaware 20. Mapquest says that will take 15 minutes longer than their route and is 130 miles (so 3 miles more). Average about 39 mph - slower. You could go all the way to Salisbury on 50 and the zip over toward Ocean City on Maryland 90 and then up the shore on Maryland 538 and Delaware 1. That's 158 miles and is supposed to take 3 hours 15 minutes. It's faster per mile (48 mph) but 30 more miles. Depends also on when you go. The bridge is a bottleneck.
