      Berlin Apartment

by Sharonov Online Now Jun 10, 2013 at 9:22 AM

We'll be flying to Berlin in late September and staying in Germany for 2 1/2 weeks. We plan to spend a week in Berlin, preferably in an apartment. I can't do too many stairs, so am looking for a place either with an elevator, or no higher than the 2nd floor (1st floor European). We'll be doing the usual tourist things in the city--I was there for a couple of days 10 years ago, but it will be my husband's first time in Berlin. My questions are:

      1. What's a better location for tourists,Prenz-Lauerberg, Kurfersterdamm, Alexanderplatz or somewhere else? We are no longer young hipsters but do enjoy old and gritty with lots to do. We are not shoppers.

      2. Any apartment recommendations?

      Month in Berlin

by IgaK Online Now Jun 13, 2013 at 6:39 AM

      Hi travellers!
My boyfriend and I would like to spend a month in Berlin. Our goal is to improve the language ( my knowledgle of german is very poor, I must admit it) and get to know the city and culture a nit closer than during couple day stay. We've taken into consideration summer course of german, but it might be way to expensive. Is there any way to catch a seasonal job for only a one month? Do you recommend any low-costed kind of accomodation?

I have been offered to rent my vacation apartment in this street, near the Halensee station. It interests me tha fact that it seems to be near the shopping street called Kudamm. My questions are: do you know if it is easy to park a car in this street, how peaceful is this area and how long can approximately be the Kudamm.
Thank you for your support to my decision.

Reserve transport for super early flight to Paris?

by PTKeil Online Now May 21, 2013 at 6:04 PM

Hi, all. We're staying in an apartment this summer and have a 6:45 flight to Paris at TXL on airberlin. We want to be there about an hour early. The owner of the apartment who is aware of our flight times is telling me this: "On departure date you can arrange a taxi from a taxi stand by local Nollendorfplatz station - during your stay, whenever you walk pass there of which I am sure you will. " Is this a reliable option? Are there going to be taxis hanging around there at 4:30-5 am? I don't want to risk missing our flight and/or make a made scramble the morning of in any way whatsoever. The public trans looks sketchy due to the early time (metro to a stop...can't remember the name at this point in time...get out and catch a bus to airport) and one bus comes only every 20 min that I could find. I'm concerned if we miss the bus then we will be late.

      Thoughts? Thanks so much!

Hi, I m planning for a short trip (9 day) to Europe from USA. My plan is to visit Paris, Venice and Rome. I m coming to Berlin from US. Here is the plan. Can someone suggest me if there is better option?

      Berlin - > Paris (Flight)
      Paris - 2 days
      Paris->Milan->Venice (Train)
      Venice - 2 days??
      Venice - > Rome (Train)
      Rome- 3 days?

I have to go back to Berlin for the return flight. But I still have 1 day left. What is the better option to cover that day, drive from Rome to Geneva (Swiss) for scenic alps view and fly from Geneva to Berlin? Is Geneva better or Zurich? and Rome and Venice in 5 days? Is that doable? Can someone suggest me ?

      Thank you

I would welcome your opinion on the location of this apartment http://www.luxberlin.com/location.html. We prefer 'independent' to 'high street' and prefer to be 'visitors' rather than 'tourists'. All that said we don't want to be too far from the action. We will be spending NYE in Berlin, 7 years ago we went and we celebrated at the Brandenburg Gate which was fun but we are certainly open to suggestions if anyone knows of a better experience.

OK, we don't have one in Munich either but found a caribbean style restaurant that offers real high quality food but in a casual ambience which we found very pleasing and i would like to surprise her with something like that. But also any other suggestion of a unique spot would be very welcome.

I need to know as I am leaving in 3 weeks and need to put in order and reservations.

I need to reserve for the Pergamon and Neues (Egyptian Museum). I will be picking up the Welcome Berlin Museum Island Card at my hotel. So how do I go about doing this? On the site of the museums, it looks like you order the tickets, but what about just making the reservations for the chosen times? Or, do you still have to purchase those times?

Hi - I would like recommendations for itenary for 2 1/2 days in Berlin and useful tips.

      - This is in early June - what time typically is the sun up and sunset?
      - Will arrive by 1 PM or 2 PM on Day 1, then have 2 full days before departing to another city.
      - Our interest mostly sightseeing and taking photos. Interested in history (although not too much), architecture and culture.
      - Looking for a good spot to see entire Berlin city (perhaps recommendation on a good panoramic view for photos?)
      - Any handy cheap and cheerful tips much appreciated as we are on tight budget. =)
      - Know there are lots of good Museums - which are the must-see (or any advice to spend the time outdoor instead of in museum for hours?)
      - Is it worthwhile to get the Berlin WelcomeCard?
      - Any recommended souvenir for keepsake from Berlin?
      - Booked our accommodation for 3 night stay at Schwedter Strasse (Prenzlauer Berg) - please let me know any recommendation for good food around this area?
      - Any recommendation for a good traditional dinner and local beer?
      - Please share as much useful tips as possible. =)

      Danke!
