Im Going to Berlin in the summer, what are the best places to stay? I want to stay in quite a Bohemian area which has good arts, cheap places to eat and preferably some good party nights. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I have stayed in Schall und Rauch in Prenzlauer Berg a number of times... very untouristy and nice. However, it is not the most convenient location. Most recently I have taken to staying at the All Seasons Hotel at AlexanderPlatz (it is a very nice, clean and comfortable ***) which is fantastically located with travel connections in all driections. It is a 5 minute walk to Hackersmart which is lovely at night with lots of places to eat ... of varying prices.

Schall & Rauch is, in my opinion, more conveniently located when you want to stay in a Bohemian area, because Prenzlauer Berg is, Alexanderplatz is not.
Schall & Rauch is close to an S-Bahn and subway station plus a tram stop. Clubs bars, cafés are plenty and nearby.
A compromise could be The Circus which is located in Mitte, bordering Prenzlauer Berg.
You could also try Almodovar Hotel in Friedrichshain/Kreuzberg - a nice hotel, but not really ideally located (but still okay).

I have only been to Berlin once, and that was to attend a conference. However, I stayed at:

It is on the river and is quite lively, and near a station.
