COMMUTE to San Mateo? - living in Berkeley/Oakland

by Footballwater Online Now Apr 4, 2006 at 1:08 PM

My girlfriend just got a job in San Mateo (moving from Austin) and we're trying to decide if the Berkeley/Oakland (rockridge) area is going to creat a killer commute in the morning (7:30ish AM)/evenings (5:00ish PM). I live in Rockridge and can get to San Ramon in 35-40 mins; I just don't know if it's worth it for her to live there and drive to San Mateo.

Could somebody please give us some insight into commuting from the East Bay to San Mateo? My gut is to avoid the Bay Bridge and just take the 880 to the San Mateo Bridge, but I just don't know how long this drive can be.

Thank YOU

Definitely would avoid Bay Bridge. 880 can be terrible as well but better, then cross San Mateo Bridge. Have you looked into Carpooling? There are several sites but here is one: Good luck.
