Bergamo, Albino and Gorno

by Siena Online Now May 11, 2012 at 7:36 PM

I will be arriving in Bergamo in August and will drive to Albino and Gorno. Can anyone recommend accommodation in either of those places for 1 night? Also, is there a free walking tour of Bergamo?

I do not know of any regular free walking tours but you can download your own miniguide etc from the Bergamo Tourist Board website: turismo.provincia.bergamo.it... The site also has loads of helpful information about Bergamo and the areas. Bergamo is a fascinating and extremely walkable place (we will be having our annual VT euromeet there at the beginning of June). You'll also find loats of information on the VT pages about Bergamo. Look especially at the pages by Gillybob and Suvanki (meeting organisers) and myself (ditto). Use the searchbox top right of this page to find them (you can also use member search to find individual member pages and then click their 'travel pages' tab to find Bergamo or Albino info) For hotels I suggest you look at the excellent and reliable www.booking.com and www.venere.com Both sites have extensive listings, both are used by many VT-ers. Neither will take any money from you as long as you turn up: you just pay the hotel as usual. Booking.com reviews are, imo, reliable as they can only be posted by people who have booked through the site and completed their stay.
