I will be visiting Berchtesgaden in May 2013 and would like to hike with others who can speak some English. IS there anything planed or a group I can join?
Hi there. I'm just looking for a bit of advice with regard to a day trip I want to make to Berchtesgaden in March. I will be travelling from Salzburg by bus and ideally I would like to go to Dokumentation Obersalzberg and then on for the rest of the day to Konigssee and then back to Salzburg that evening. First of all is this realistic to do this in one day? I have no problem in being in Berchtesgaden early in the morning. Am I correct to say there is a bus directly to Dokumentation Obersalzberg? Is there a bus from there onwards to Konigssee or would I need to return back to Berchtesgaden and get a bus from there? Likewise from Konigssee do I need to return to Berchtesgaden in order to get the bus back to Sallzburg? Thanks in advance for any replies:-)
Hello, My soon-to-be wife and I are planning to spend part of our honeymoon in Berchtesgaden in the beginning of August of this year. How accessible are hiking trailheads from town? Does anyone have any recommendations on where to stay? Many of the places seem pretty similar online. We would love to camp a night or two in the National Park. Are there places to rent camping gear? Would this be a practical option or would it be more advantageous to just do day hikes? We also would really like to do some bike touring. Are there vendors in town with reliable road bikes? What would be an average price per day for that time of year? Do they offer any different pick-up/drop-off for longer destination cycling? Thanks for the help!
Hello, Three students going to Berchtesgaden for 4 nights at the end of May. We're looking for some cheap accommodation that is close to the community. So far we've just been able to find the Youth Hostel which seems to be a bit of a walk from the community centre. Are there any other suggestions of places to stay for 30 (?) euros or under per night per person? Thanks.
Hi there, i have booked this as a tour on my previous trip to Germany but for my forthcoming trip in May i was hoping to stay in Berchtesgaden and just pay for the bus ride up to the Eagles Nest. Does it operate daily? the tours seem to only operate on a monday and friday. i have found timetables etc but they dont specify if they run daily, any help is greatly appreciated, also any hotel reccomendations :)
Are the tunnels accessable during the winter months as well or only from May through October?
I'm trying to get information on visiting the "Eagle's Nest", but the information available is somewhat spread out and confusing. From what I can piece together: - Parking for my car at Obersalzberg parking lot: 2.50 Euros - Bus to tunnel + elevator: 15 Euros per person - The bus leaves the parking lot about every half hour (last bus - 16:00). What I don't know is: (1) How much time to budget for this? (2) Is it possible to park my car at the parking lot and to walk up to the "Eagle's Nest (avoiding the 15 Euro fee)? (3) If yes, how long does it take to walk to the top from the parking lot? (4) Are there any other options? Thanks.
I will be in the Berchtesgaden area of Bavaria next month. Do German public phone allow one to RECEIVE calls and, if so, are the phone numbers usually posted on them? Thanks.
We will be spending Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Berchtesgaden Germany. Does anyone have advice on a festive place to enjoy Christmas dinner either night. We will be traveling with small children as well, so we would like to be festive and special.

Hi, Im planning on spending 10 days in Berchtesgaden next April. At the moment I was think of staying 2 nights in Berchtesgaden town itself to allow me to look around the town and surrounding area, aswell as walking to Obersalzburg one day. I was then planning on going onto a campsite which is apparently 10mins from Lake Konigssee and spending the next week there hiking trails and spending time at the lake. Does this sound like a sensible plan and are there any suggestions as to more activities or sights. (i.e. would you spend more time in the town maybe) Thanks
Is 1 day enough for both Konigsee + Eagles Nest?? We plan to be there on Monday 10.00 hours and start our journey to both attractions. Last bus to Eagles Nest is at 16.50 hours. What about it ? Also please let me another one question : Usually, how is the wheather in the middle of July ? Thank you in advance.
Would be travelling from Salzburg to Berchtesgaden. If there is a party of 4 people, would it be better value to get the Bayern ticket instead of a single day trip ticket for each individual? Can I use it for the local bus from Berchtesgaden station to the various popular sights.I read that the Bayern ticket can be purchased from the machine at Salzburg station, correct?
We will be in Germany in mid-May and would ike to go hiking in Bertchesgaden. Will it be very crowded? Is there a way to avoid the crowds, like staying somewhere else? Thanks, Fran
Hello, I intends to stay at Berchtesgaden for 1 night. I will go to Konigssee lake and the Mount Jenner (take trails). Would you recommend me to stay at the hotel near the main train station or near the Konigssee lake? Many thanks.
Hi I'm doing a day trip to Berchtesgaden and want to visit : the salt mines, Eagles Nest, top of Mount Jenner, Lake Konigsee and St Bartholemew. Is it realistic to do all of this in one day? In which order - roughly - would you recommend?

Hello. What is the price for bike rent in Berchesgaden? For a day.
I am planning my fourth trip to the Obersalzberg area the end of this month. Although I have visited the Kehlsteinhaus many times, I did not realize until recently that it was possible to eat an evening meal at the restaurant. Is there someone that could get me some details on such things as making reservations, the cost, the quality of the food etc. Also, does anyone have any information about the buffet meals at the Berghotel Rehlegg in Ramsau?
Hi, I'm wanting to take a short trip to the koenigssee next week, (may 9 and 10) and was wondering if there are any hotels that are located on or very near the lake? I'd appreciate any help or suggestions. I am with my mother who has a broken foot so we are not able to hike, but would love to enjoy the lake side area. Thanks!
does anyone know anything about the bus that goes from hintersee into the national park ( through the locked gate )up to the austrian border? how often does it go? are there walks back to the hintersee car park? we intend to do this next time we are in Berchtesgaden in May. cheers
Has anybody try a winter hiking in Berchtesgaden? I'll visit here in this winter, and wish to do an easy (approximately 2-3 hours)hike. Thanks. Shanne
how to reach konigsee form munich by train?
Anywhere in Berchtesgaden for left luggage?
I'm a student wanting to visit Berchtesgaden - would be arriving by train from Munich June 9th around 8 pm and leaving around 3 pm on Sunday the 11th for Stuttgart. I've done muliple searches for a place to stay. Does anyone know of a place to stay that might be along the train route? I want to visit the Salt mine and the Eagle's Nest but can't seem to find affordable accomadations that I can get to with public transport. I wondered if there were rooms available in town that might not be on the net? Does anyone know about the avail. transport outside the center city for 8 pm on a Friday? I'm willing to stay just about anywhere - if I can get there easily. Thanks, J.
We stayed at a great place in Loipl just outside Berchtesgaden a couple of years ago. Unforunately it's since stopped doing holiday rentals, but my family and my sister's family (5 adults, 3 children, 1 toddler) are looking for a similar Bavarian retreat. Ideally it would be more rural than urban, and in the Berchtesgadener-land. We're looking for a couple of weeks in August 2007, and have looked on the internet, and seen some places, but none that are ideal. Therefore, I'm hoping somehwere out there is someone who knows of a private rental (or one I simply haven't stumbled on yet), and can point me in their direction. Thanks in advance (and with fingers crossed) Phil
I plan on stopping in Konigssee for about 5 hours on a trip from Garmisch to Salzburg. I enjoy hiking and beautiful scenery. Is the boat trip worth it or too touristy? (or too long?) Is there usually a long wait? (I have a copy of the schedule.) I understand there are rowboats to rent; does anyone know how long would it take to row to St. Bartholomew? Is the hike to Obersee the best hike, or are there better ones? Any other recommendatons for an itenerary? Danke!!
