we r flying in2 brest on 3rd july and have no transfer from airport to pointe st gilles camp site. does anyone know of the cheapest and easiest way to get there traveling with small children.
According to their website it is 97km from Brest airport to the site. That's about 60 miles. That's an awkward journey way to go by anything other than some sort of taxi transfer transfer service - even the nearest railway station at Quimper is 19km away so you still have the problem of how to do that part. Trains between Brest and Quimper are irregular and infrequent, some 'trains' are in fact buses. Times here telechargement.ter-sncf.com/... I can't improve on the information cubsur has given you above but this campsite is actually a good 15 minutes outside the town of Benodet. I know the area quite well but have never visited without a car - first time back in 1966 with 4 young children wnen we stayed in the centre of Benodet. Would you consider hiring a small car? It would make your return trips from and back to the airport so much easier and given the possible total you could spend on trains, buses and taxis, both ways, possibly not much more expensive but without all the hassle. You would also have the option of visiting other places in the area during the holiday.

yes the camp is a bit off, the car would be better. I have been there by car too, as public transport is not that good here. You may have to change buses too. So again with small children you might be better off paying a bit and renting a car. The buses runs thru Quimper on from Brest bus 35 and from Quimper to Benodet on bus 41. lots of waiting too. I ask my Breton collegues here at work,and they said difficult, need to get from airport to Brest train station then train to Bénodet, then taxi to the camp. Hope it helps your decision
