Planning a 10 day Jan 07 vaca. 3* hotel will do on the beach. Should I stay on Ambergris Caye or mainland Belize? My main reason for this trip is snorkling and maybe some jungle/ruin exploration stuff. Thx Sandy
I can tell you that Belize city would not be my choice having just been there last week. It's convenient to the jungle things (I did cave tubing) but there are only a couple 4-5 star hotels (Radisson and Princess) and neither really did much for me. The Travel Slut

Ditto on not Belize City. We split a 9 day trip between Caye Caulker and the San Ignacio. We stayed at Crystal Paradise although there are several other places. From that area you can get to Tikal in Guatemala and Caracol in Belize pretty easily. Caye Caulker is a small island with a laid back style. Ambergris Caye is more upscale and more developed.
