Hello - headed to Ambergris Ca in a couple of weeks with 10 other family members.
We are clear on using bottled water for everything. Curious about the fruit and veggies there. Do you suggest cooking everything or will we be safe with raw fruit and veggies.
Also where can we buy good seafood for cooking dinner at the resort?
Thanks so much - Virginia
I am a 29 year old female who has traveled quite a bit, but I am considering a solo trip to Belize in February 2014. Just looking for some opinions/ safety concerns I might have. I've heard not to spend much time in Belize City, which is fine. My plan would probably spend most of my time in Hopkins as I've heard this is one of the more laid back beaches (not crowded by cruise ship people). I'd also like to take the bus to Tikal Ruins in Guatemala for a day trip.
Any input would be much appreciated!
Looking for a local guide to help with monkey river trip, zoo, snorkel, fishing and general info Belize info. I don't want the group tours. Would love to hire a reasonably priced local person. We are staying in the Placencia area.
Can we get a boat from southern Belize to mainland Honduras or a Honduran bay island?
Are there mopeds to rent?
My husband and I will have about 4 days in Belize in February. We live in Costa Rica, so we are pretty much comfortable with america central style.
With only 4 days, we would like to know where is the most beautiful place to visit. We love beach and snorkeling. We like hiking and see animals.
We hope to find a nice hotel/villa/cabin for less than 60$. Is it realistic?
Thank you very much for all the tips you can give me.
If you can only choose one, which one would be and why? I have only one day to go...
I will be spending the month of October on Ambergris.
I am bringing my cat with me.
If I want to spend 4 to 5 days on the mainland are there kennels or (preferably pet sitters that are trustworthy
Is it possible to find a pet sitter or kennel for a cat on Ambergris
My husband and I will be travelling to Belize overland from Guatemala around the 3rd week of Nov. At this time of year is it fairly easy to show up and find accommodation? The areas we were considering were San Pedro and Caye Calker. We are budget travellers, however having said that we realize Belize is not cheap, but any suggestions would be appreciated!
Is it better to leave a forwarding address with the Post Office or rely on relatives to screen my mail for anything important?
I'm thinking about moving to Belize in a month, and would like to know of any suggestions on a cheap, clean, safe city on the beach.
This is my first time to visit Belize, not sure what to expect if I decide to visit from Oct 8 - Oct 15th. I enjoy water acitivities and would love to visit mayan sites and do some hikings when weather permits, with that being said, my main concern is the likelyhood of being able to do all these outdoor activities in mid October. I've heard anytime is a good time to visit Belize but the hurricane season could rain a lot and ruin the experience. Any suggestions and/or past experiences are appreciated.
I am going on a cruise Sept 7th leaving from Miami Florida and going to Belize City and would like to know for certain I do not need a passport to get off the ship. Thanks.
Hey guys...I am trying to organize my trip through Belize, coming from Mexico and turning to Guatemala.
A friend said about Belize: it´s all about Caye Caulker and Shark Ray Alley....so, regarding the prices of accoms in CC would you recommend that 5 days are enough to snorkle and dive around CC? I could spend up to 2 weeks (more or less) in Belize and I guess there is plenty to see.
Happy for any advice. Thx
I intend to rely on using my bank card for purchases and expenses while in Belize and the Dominican Republic. I already know that I need to tell my bank my travel plans. What is the recommended amount of pocket money to carry? And is it better in some instances to use travelers checks? I will be in both countries for a total of three months.
My wife and I are travelling Honduras and want to enter Belize. All of the information we heard and found is kinda of conflicting. Does anyone know if Koreans can enter Belize by paying for visa at border. We are thinking of taking the boat across from Puerto Barrios to Punta Gorda. We are easy with any boat transfer but curious about the visa situation. Thank you/
How safe is it for a 65 year old gentleman? I will be enjoying myself there for two months next year and my landlord assures me that it will be safe with normal prudence. I want to know more.
The shuttle will take you from airport to San Ignacio for $30? Leaving tonight so trying to get all info straight about getting from airport to SI.
Is the water safe to drink in hotel (staying in Tripicool in SI and Villa Almendra in CC), or should we stay with the bottled water option? I sincerely appreciate all the advice that I have received and look forward to finally being in Belize soon!
We have a great place to stay in San Pedro so we will be based from there but wouldn't mind if we needed to spend a few nights in other areas. We are wanting to have things planned for each day. Would really like to see the ATM cave, plus maybe do some cave floating, snorkling, zip lining, maya ruins. What other must do things should we fit in? This will be our first trip to Belize, thank you for your help!
We are coming to Belize in February but haven't decided on a location. We would like a place close to shore snorkeling and hiking. Preferably all inclusive but not a necessity. It doesn't sound like there are many all inclusives available. What do you recommend?
Have seen Pacz, Mayawalker & BZM listed for this tour. Who would you recommend or other. Do we need to book it ahead of time and is $110 a definite price is is it open for negotiations?
First time visit to Belize. We want to see all areas of Belize. Should we rent an SUV and explore on our own? Or should we hire a vehicle and driver/guide? If we hire, were do we get information on doing this?
What is the best and most economical way to get to San Ignacio from the airport?
Any advise on who to hire for fishing? Will be there July 23-27th. Also good place to snorkel and any do not miss attractions. Appreciate any and all suggestions.
Anyone have any suggestions on who to hire for fishing in Caye Caulker. Will be there July 20-27th. Also what is best and most economical way to get from Belize airport to San Ignacio. Suggestions on what to make sure we see in San Ignacio and Caye Caulker. Doing ATM (thank you those who posted advise for me on that). Appreciate any and all suggestions!
We are looking to bring hard salami, beef jerky, some snacks like popcorn, jars of dip, etc. How about a bottle or 2 of alcohol? Is there any issue with this? Will customs give us a bad time?
I am not a big water fan or having my head under water, and we are planning on going to ATM caves while in Belize the week of July 20th. I have read a lot of posts that you do have to do some swimming to get to cave. I know the end result will be worth it, but how bad is the swimming part?
Thanks so much!!
