b eijing subway/streets in english

I speak no Chinese. Can I get signs/voice overs in English on Shanghai/Beijing subway trains etc? Also, do streets have English names? If not, is it worth catching subway? OR BEST TO USE A CAB with hand written instructions from my Hotel - I'm staying at Hyatt and they offer this but I like to travel local as locals do!!! Read more: VT Forum temporarily unavailable
