Hello again! Is it possible to visit the great wall in two day (how long the trip could take..closest part of great wall and where is it)...we only have two days to spend in Beijing and we would like to see forbiden city and as well as the great wall..we live very close to tianamen quare. Thanks again!
The closest part is the great wall at Badaling, 60 kms. from Beijing. In 2 busy days you can visit the Forbidden City, Great Wall and (perhaps) Heaven's temple and/or Summer Palace. It all depends on how "deeply" you want to visit those sites. Great Wall and Forbiden City are a MUST. Enjoy,

We traveled to Mutianyu section of the wall (starting early in the day). Stayed about 4 hours in the wall. Returned to Beijing and went to Summer Palace in the afternoon. Walked around Tianemen Square and "got our bearings" for the next day's visit to the Forbidden City. There is alot of ground to cover and regardless...you'll be left wanting to explore further. Enjoy as much as you can!

I agree with the prev post... you can easily see the Great Wall one day and Forbiden Palace the next... see if you can book a half/full day trip from your hotel to avoid hassles on getting to the Great Wall... my fav section is Simatai, though it's a bit farther then Badaling. suerte, Fernando
