we are travelling from Romania to New Zealand in July and had thought of doing a tour of either Mongolia, India or China on the way. Can anyone tell me if this is a good time to visit either pace. we were thinking about Beijing to Xi'ian then to a boat cruise on the Yangtze ending up in Shanghai. we have concerns about the temperatures and wonder if there are better places to visit on our way home at this time of year.
All three of those countries listed are quite large and having varrying weather. Beijing and Shanghai will be warm, probably uncomfortable at those times (place a few more tourist than normal). Mongolia I think is uniformly warm that time of year. I would imagine some higher elevations in India would be cool, but the rest warm or even wet. For China you could definately come to Kunming (eternal spring) and some high elevation parts near by and have good weather. Other mountain areas in China would also have temperate weather.

Go to Mongolia. It's going to be very hot in China, and India I assume.
