Off to the Palladium Bavaro Grand on the 12th August. Is there any need to take formal clothes for any of the restaurants or are shorts and t-shirts okay?
There is a big jump from shorts and a t-shirt to formal. Bring slacks and a nice shirt for dinners. The phrase is resort casual.

Honestly I think you are good to go with taking a pair of slacks or nice clothes ...and mostly tshirt and shorts...its a vacation..most of the things you will do will require the bathing suit dress code lol... I can tell you right now that you r in for a hot time, I just got back and it's very hot so shorts and casual clothing are the way to go. there is no need for formal attire here but if you r going to the casino casual slacks r just fine . If you check out captain cook "seafood" you can were ur bathing suits. By the way I took an areial tour to samana and it was great! i also went to Saona Isle which was a great adventure . Pristine clear blue waters the only way to get there is by speed boat great! the hotels will sell you the tours but if you do a little shopping you can get at least 20% cheaper . my friend turned me on to eco-tourism and I'm glad he did . the guys spoke perfect english and new everything about the country . they were very amiable polite and honest ! if you like take a look at their facebook page fredmuchoviaje
