I found online that there is an orchestral concert at St. Peter's church on Dec. 29 and a Bach choir concert there on Dec. 31st. I cannot seem to find any information on tickets, so I'm wondering if perhaps these are free concerts? Does anyone know? Thank you! ~ Erin

Suggestions are appreciated.

Is it possible to do a day trip from Munich and visit all 3 places in ONE day using purely public transport in late December (around 21-22) or am I better off joining a tour from Munich? I plan to leave Munich as early as possible (7am), visit Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles first then make my way to Linderhof (if possible). Will appreciate any advice on how I can travel from Hohenschwangau to Linderhof using public transport.

Tickets are purchased and now we are choosing places to stay for our trip to Bavaria. We will be three adults (myself, my wife, mother in law, and our (then)four year old son. I am looking at vacation apartments and quite a few have a sofa bed as the second bed. Here in the US a sofa bed is typically a miserable contraption that is extremely uncomfortable-a thin mattress and bar under your back all night. Are German sofa beds similar, or are they much better? Second, most dinners we ate had more than generous portions, so is it ok to share our food with our son(keep in mind there will be three adults to share with him), or is this frowned upon?
I stayed at the Donauhotel with a Rexroth group on Augesberber Str. in 1980. Up the street / Augesberber Str. was a US officers club where a dinner reception was held. Does this still exist? All infromation is appreciated.
For native English-speakers, are the BMW Welt and Museum tours worthwhile, or is signage in both places available in English and probably covers the same or similar information? Any advice? Thanks! ~ Erin
We are spending out Honeymoon traveling to Munich around Christmas. We have 4 nights to spend in Germany before traveling to Paris. 2 night we already have booked in Munich. Do you recommend staying in Munich the other 2 nights, traveling to small towns outside of their? Garmish? Austria? I do want to see the Neuschwanstein Castle which we hope to rent a car for.
We have a few options for those extra few days? Any suggestions of where to go, hotels to stay in at those locations?
What are the options of getting to the Munich Airport FROM central Munich?
Are there any special train ticket options for getting to and from Salzburg? I've looked on the Bahn website, but the prices were somewhat higher than I'd expected. I'm not sure if that's just a more expensive route, or if I'm just not finding the right rates. There will be 5 adults traveling together, sometime the last week of December for a day trip from Munich to Salzburg. Thanks!
I'll have a few hours to spend in Ladenburg before I catch my flight out from Frankfurt to Paris (day trip). Can anyone please tell me the fastest way to get to Ladenburg--should I rent a car or is there a train/bus service that makes frequent runs? I don't want to miss my return flight. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you so much!
I would like to go to Regensburg as soon as possible and I am trying to find someone who is already planing to travel to Regensburg or somewhere near, in Bavaria.
You can contact me on
and we can talk more, I can describe myself and more.
I am staying at Frankfurth airport for a convention, I would like to go to St. Gar and take a river trip and possible see some castles and if Bacherach is included so much better,
Is that doable as a daytrip, and if so how do I execute that daytrip?
Hello all. Planning a family trip to Bavaria in March/April for two weeks. A little early and cooler out, but airfare at this time is $1000 cheaper for all of us-hard to say no to that. We will be staying in MIttenwald for a few days, and I thought it would be pretty cool to surprise everyone with a little drive to Vipiteno Italy for part of the day, plus we've never been to Italy. Is this drive typically possible at this time of year, or are the mountains not passable? Thoughts?
We will be staying at the Colmberg Castle for a couple of days and we have a car but wish to travel by train into Nuremberg. Where is the closest train station?
I would like to purchase some wine on line and also prints of rothenburg. Can you please tell me a website where I can do this? My husband and I visited Rothenburg 3 weeks ago and wish we would have purchased some more items.
Probably a silly question. I'm hoping to take a train that arrives back at Munich at 11pm and I need to get out to the airport hotel. Would I have a problem finding a taxi at the train station? Logically there shouldn't be, but I just want to confirm.
I know I can probably take the S-Bahn and then use the airport hotel shuttle, but that seems like a bit late for public transport. Back home, there are some strange people on the subway after 9pm.
If all the flights to Nurnburg are sold out, where is the nearest place to fly to from London?
