We are arriving in Paris (by plane) and then driving to a house near Creully.
The car will be full so we can't get any food shopping until we arrive which will be quite late, probably around 6pm. Can you help me find any supermarkets in the area that might be open late? It is just to get basics to see us through!

      departing mont st michel

Mont Saint Michel Jun 20, 2014 at 7:23 AM

we would like to spend the day in Dol de Bretaine when we arrive from Paris (avoiding the daytime crowds at Le Mont), but see that there is only one bus from the TGV to Le Mont (1040) during the week. Is a taxi the only other way to commute to Mont St Michel later in the day, or is there a local bus system that can be used

Also, where can I find the bus schedule TO Dol de Bretaine from Mont St Michel for our departure to Paris the next morning

    • drop off laundry service in Bayeux?

      Bayeux Jun 19, 2014 at 9:36 AM

We will be in Bayeux midway through a 14 day trip and would love to be able to get some laundry done so we can minimize packing. Are there any laundromats that do drop off service? Otherwise what are the laundromat options? We will be staying at the Churchill Hotel. Looks like there is a self serve laundromat nearby, close to the tourist office. Any others?

Interested in a friendly reasonably priced restaurant where 10 to 20 people can gather for informal gathering. Will appreciate your suggestions in Port-en-Bessin, FR in early July. Group is 3 nights at Ibis Port-en-Bessin, so proximity to hotel is also important. Thank you.

      Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer May 26, 2014 at 7:07 PM

I'm coming to Nomandie for the D-Day commemorations, and debating whether to stay in bayeux or Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer. Clearly Saint-Lauren is nearer Omaha beach, but I'm wondering how accessible it is by public transit from Paris. I know the SNCF would take me directly to Bayeux; is there any train/bus equally direct and easy from Paris?

      Things to see and do

      Caen May 11, 2014 at 2:27 AM

For our 30th wedding anniversary and to coincide with the 100th anniversary of WW1 we are going to Caen in July for a week stay.
Never having been there before and, wanting to make the most of our 5 days there, what should we not miss seeing and doing while there?
We will have our own car so mobility is not a problem.
      Thanks all in advance.

      Arromanches-les-Bains May 10, 2014 at 9:28 AM

There was a painting on the side of a building in Arromanches that depicted children looking at poppies with the caption "No more war. Only peace." I would love to have a photo of that. Is there possibly a poster available of that? It was very moving. Please advise if it available and if so how I might obtain it. Thank you.

    • How busy is Honfleur in September

      Honfleur May 2, 2014 at 1:35 PM

Hi if we stay in Honfleur from Sept 13th until the 27th will it still be busy with tourists about and cafés and restaurants still open? We are a bit concerned as we have stayed in Northern France a different area before late season and it seemed the whole place was closing down, last year we travelled over the South side of France so as things would still be open, we don't expect it to be like July, but would like to still have choice of places to eat and drink and people watching to do?
      Thanks for the help
