I am arriving in Bari from Corfu on Mon 20th dec. I arrive at approx 7.30 am in the morning and need to get to the airport asap. are there taxis always at the port and how much is one approximately to the airport? or is there a bus that goes direct to the airport? thanks in advance!

Taxi's are always at the port. They make their living on the island that way, but there may be less because of low season...when you get off the ship, grab one right away. Wouldn't wait for the bus because tey have only three to four daily running the route and you need to get to the airport ASAP. The taxi might wait to fill up the cab going in the same direction also. Sometimes there will be a sign of the fare on a board at the taxi stand. Otherwise, you are at their mercy, no meter..so you have to ask...I say 40 euros Good luck and cheers Tommy x

I'd be very surprised if there weren't taxis, but do make sure you get off the ferry sharpish. There are buses from Bari city centre to the airport. Info and links here: aeroportipuglia.it/default.a... You might also try booking a taxi/transfer in advance online. The airport website gives a couple of taxi firms and their numbers, or you could google for a transfer provider.

"They make their living on the island that way" Tommy, I think the OP is talking about Bari, not Corfu. In looking at the bus schedules, if you're in a hurry, it looks like the taxi will be the way to go. Since taxi fare in Italy are often 3 euro to start and 1 euro per kilometer (total guess), the fare (14 kms) should be less than 20 euro - again, total guess...but if you need to get to the airport in a hurry, this would be the way to go...I agree with leics that I would expect taxis at the port... Bill

In my experience Bari taxis are perfectly trustworthy - just make sure you take one of the official white ones. The driver may want to wait a couple of minutes to see if any one else is travelling the same route (if there's not many taxi available) but that's reasonable enough IMO. Also if there is a taxi with a couple of passengers in it already and the driver calls you over asking if you want the airport then just jump in! I'm not sure how the local taxi regs work as to whether everyone has to pay the meter price or if the driver adds a per person supplement but whatever you should expect the bill to be about 20 Euros. PS Hope you are a good passenger these drivers are Italians!!

Hi,I agree with the above replies--you could also ask other travellers on board the ship if they are going to the airport via taxi and share the cost with them, the driver will think you are together and only charge the one fare,if you wait until the driver asks you at the dock then you will be charged the full amount on the meter per person. That is how they make money.

If time is really tight, I think you should pre-book a taxi. There is no way of knowing how many other passengers will need them, nor how many will actually be available at the dockside.
