Arriving early on a Monday via ship; seeking convenient, reasonably priced but dependable transfer info/suggestions. Also, would appreciate centrally located hotels - perhaps on or near Las Ramblas. Wishing to do and see as much as possible in 1 1/2 days before returning to the States. Any suggestions would be appreciated including restaurants. Thank you. BG
We have stayed twice at http://www.hotelgaudibarcelona.com/ and once at - http://www.hotel-rialto.com/en We have stayed at two other hotels but the ones above are the only ones we would return to. Both very conveniently located and good value for money.

From the port, just pick up a taxi to your hotel. The port is within a 10 minutes max of almost anyplace in Barcelona. I am not a big fan at staying around Las Ramblas as it is just too busy. We stayed at the Vinnci Maritimo about 5 metro stops from the Cathedral, and it was a nice respite, and a reasonable price. We had probably our most fun meal(s) at Orio Euskal on caller Ferran by the Cathedral. Note it is a Basque style tapas bar and not typical Catalan. for a more typical non touristy local place, try Restaurante Electridad in Barceloneta (by the docks). both are on my Barcelona page. Karl

I stayed very close to Las Ramblas and the hotel was very comfortable. You can take a look at my Barcelona page for details. Also I have some restaurant reviews and things to do tips for your information in my page. Enjoy it :)

I stayed at Hotel Marvi a few years ago. It's in front of the Universitat metro stop. And the Plaza Catalunya (and start of the Ramblas area) is 5 minutes walk where you can catch the Aerobus service to go to the airport. Have a review and some pics of my room on my BCN pages. I booked through www.booking.com rather than www.hotelmarvi.com, which is the hotel's website. I enjoyed food at the following places: - Ciudad Condal ( or Ciutat Comtal in Catalan) at Rambla Catalunya, 18, Barcelona - Sagardì Euskal Taberna at Argenteria, 62, Barcelona
