Hello. I am pretty sure there is not direct connection Barcelona-Daroca. I guess you should go to Zaragoza(high-speed train is 90 minutes, and very comfortable with LOTS trains every day). At the same building where you leave the high-speed train, you move to the bus station and you ride one to Daroca. I attach the link agredasa.es/index.php?option... There is no english version. I am sorry. I must tell you that the travel by bus seems a bit "boring" to me as it stops in several small villages. It is another 90 minutes. At least you will be able to see our "desertic" landscape. If you are in a hurry....you can hire a taxi at the train station, but off course that would be expensive. Have you consideer renting a car? Good luck with your search!

The high speed AVE trains from Barcelona to Zaragoza make the 314km trip in just 1 hour and 26 minutes. There are also slower Alvia trains (about 2 hours)which cost less. Reservations are essential. If you book on line at www.renfe.es you will find the cheapest fare for the date and time you wish to travel. There is a closer station to Daroca, at Catalayud some 38km distant. Very infrequent trains run to Catalayud from Zaragoza, taking about 1hr 15 minutes, but I don't know if there is any bus between Catalayud and Daroca.

YOu don´t have much time, but I am sure you will do it to Daroca with no problem. Just be patient at the bus. What do you plan to do in Daroca? If you need some help on Zaragoza or Daroca, don´t hesitate to ask. Miguel How r u? Can't forget your kind help to contact with Prof. Miguel Angel Motis, the researcher from your university. Yes...that´s the main problem with high-speed trains...it is for thick wallets! From time to time you can find offers, but not with just so little time in advance I am afraid. And July is extra high tourist season in Spain, and they know it! I guess you can hire a car for less, but then you must drive 320 km. I use to take the toll-road because of safety, and find your way out of mega Barcelona and your way in "mid-size" Zaragoza. Daroca shouldn´t be a problem as it is a small village where everybody knows every body.

Hi Avi! (y hola Miguel!) :) I love the AVE fast trains, but yes, they are expensive... In any case, as going to Daroca would involve changing to a bus in Zaragoza, a rental car will work cheaper and probably not much slower. If you rent a car in BCN airport you're already "out" of Barcelona. So, its not a difficult/stressful driving.... well, at least for me ;-) Depending on how much time you have, you can go via Zaragoza (mostly using the highway), or making a bit of detour via Reus and Alcañiz. Buen viaje!

Hola Isa and Thank you. I think I accept your advice and go a bit of detour via Reus and Alcañiz. Do mean along the sea-shore via Tarragona?

I have asked google maps: how to go from Barcelona to Daroca. He lead me thru Zaragoza...but I "forced" the machine to go via Alcañiz, and it is true that the road will be more scenic, and it may be a not crowed road, so you will enjoy the landscape...or at least the person not driving. 398 kilometres, 5 hours 20 minutes. If you have time or it is your time for a short break on the road, Alcañiz seems an interesting point to me. The old quarter is worthe the visit if you pass by.

Hi! Miguel did beat it to me :-)) Yes, the route I suggested means going down to Tarragona, but bypassing it: http://goo.gl/maps/f0OS Of course, if you have time enough Tarragona is worth a look, but then you will need at least an overnight. I suggested Reus and Alcañiz bacause both are kind of "hidden gems", where you can easily spend a few hours (or a couple of days) exploring: - Reus is a small city with lots of Modernista (Art Noveau) architecture. Birthplace of Gaudi. - Alcañiz is a wonderful Medieval town, as Miguel said above it has a very nice old quarter. The driving is quite scenic in parts. When I was living in Zaragoza years ago and was visiting my family in Vilanova i la Geltrú I used to took this route often, when I was not in a rush.
